NFL Star Demario Davis Says 1-Year-Old Daughter Is Finally 'Free of Cancer' | 22 Words

NFL star, Demario Davis, has today come forward with some incredible news about his 1-year-old daughter's grueling battle with cancer.

Here's the full story...

It's been a rough couple of months for Demario Davis and his family.

The New Orleans Saints NFL star has been open with his family's struggles as his youngest child, 1-year-old Carly-Faith Davis battled a rare form of cancer.

Back in May, the infant was diagnosed with a Retinoblastoma...

A form of cancer that causes a tumor to form behind the eye.

Of course, this news was utterly crushing to the Davis'.

Demario's wife, and the mother to his 4 children, Tamela, wrote this on Instagram: "Almost two months ago, we received news that shattered our hearts into the tiniest pieces; 'It’s Retinoblastoma.'⁣ I’d never heard of this cancer, and it took me a couple of days to even learn how to pronounce it... I felt weakened. This was a situation that could have caused us to lose trust in our Father and allow the enemy to fill us with doubt."

But the family decided to stay strong and fight for their daughter.

Tamela continued: "So many questions flooded my mind. At that moment, God appeared swiftly and granted me the strength and endurance that I would have never seen myself having under these circumstances!⁣"

Carly-Faith's tumor was situated behind her left eye...

And surgery was required in order for it to be safely removed.

Sadly, her full left eye had to be removed in order to reach the tumor...

But she is now living comfortably with a custom prosthetic eye.

And, this week, the family received the best news yet.

Carly-Faith had beaten the devastating disease, and is officially cancer-free! Demario spoke exclusively to TMZ today, where he gave the details of his daughter's recovery and how the family reacted to the good news.

Very quickly, the words of congratulations have been flooding in...

The thirty-one-year-old sports star sat down in a virtual interview with the publication today to reveal the happy news.

"I'm a person that just tries to never take anything for granted and to know what she's [Carly-Faith] been through, even to the point of having to lose her eye, but her body is free of cancer," he explained.

Demario simply couldn't contain his joy.

He explained how his daughter maintained her happy-go-lucky personality despite her challenging journey and even danced and cheered to the Saints' most recent win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

He shared a video of her dancing gleefully to their victory on his Instagram...

Alongside the caption: "For anyone wanting to know how Carly-Faith doing..... She said WHO DAT!!!"

Demario added that he is grateful for the doctors and the resources his family was able to use during her treatment...

And hopes their story will help others going through similar challenges. "We're able to use her story and bring awareness to a lot of families that probably wouldn't have known about it if it wasn't for us going through it."
