Nicolas Cage Is Set To Make Hollywood Comeback With Sequels for Two of His Best Movies

Cage is best known for his performances in action movies like Raising Arizona, Face/Off,  Red Rock West, Pig, and Moonstruck.

As well as The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

But it was only after several lackluster films in the early 1990s, that Cage eventually earned critical acclaim with his Oscar-winning performance as a self-destructive alcoholic writer in Leaving Las Vegas.

He even went on to star in a series of large-budget films that were blockbusters at the box office.

In The Rock in 1996, Con Air in 1997, and Face/Off he appeared opposite other huge names such as Sean Connery, John Cusack, and John Travolta.

Other notable action films and thrillers he worked in were Gone in 60 Seconds, Windtalkers, National Treasure, and its sequel National Treasure: Book of Secrets.

In 2002, Cage was again nominated for an Academy Award for playing in Spike Jonze’s Adaption.

In the same year he made his directorial debut with Sonny, a film he also produced.

Despite his successful acting career, in 2009 Cage was named Global Citizen of the Year by the United Nations for his humanitarian efforts…

His involvement in creating a fund for former child soldiers.

But he ended up leaving his acting career because of some unnecessary expenses and bad decisions.

Cage found himself debt-stricken.

This was reportedly the primary reason he stepped away from the limelight.

And has now paid off all his debts while also gaining a cult following.

Reports suggest Cage will be making a comeback after his long sabbatical.

According to UNILAD, the movie will be a reprised sequel of Cage’s film Face/Off.

The movie saw Cage play ruthless terrorist Castor Troy, who is hellbent on destroying FBI agent Sean Archer’s life, who was played by John Travolta.

The plot revolves around Cage and Travolta swapping faces and trying to kill each other.

The Guest director, Adam Wingard, who is set to helm the sequel told Empire that “we saw this as a Nicolas Cage movie.”

“A couple of years ago, the studio maybe would have wanted a hot, young, up-and-coming actor or something. Now, Nicolas Cage is one of the hottest actors in Hollywood again,” he said.

And that’s not all…

Another second franchise is set to return with a Disney+.

The series entitled National Treasure: Edge of History, with Lisette Alexis in the lead role, will be a sequel to The National Treasure and the second movie Book of Secrets.

According to reports, Cage could also be on the cards and return as his character, Gates.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer told Comicbook that they are working on a script and hopefully Cage likes it.

“So I think we’ll get it to him shortly,” he added.

Even so, The Hollywood Reporter claimed the success of Pig has allowed Cage to receive a huge $4 million to star in them.

And this is about $4 million more than he received for his Oscar-winning performance in Leaving Las Vegas.
