And right now, there are currently 82,449,240 cases of the virus.

Over 1.7 million people have tragically died as a result...

And even more alarmingly so, the United States of America is the worst affected country in the world - with more than 300,000 deaths alone.

If certain individuals listened to the experts and practiced social distancing and mask-wearing.

There's no denying how unprepared the entire world was for this pandemic...

And Donald Trump's eagerness to tone down the virus didn't at all go to plan.

And even when the president tested positive for COVID himself...

He continued to play it down and insist that we can simply "live with the virus."

This was extremely alarming for many to hear from one of the most powerful leaders in the world...

And it got us all wondering... What's the progress with the much-needed vaccine?

Pharmaceutical organizations from all around the world have been working tirelessly to create a vaccine...

He admitted that his arm was sore for a day but had no other side effects from the vaccine.

He tested positive for COVID-19 on Boxing day.

Christian Ramers, an infectious disease specialist with Family Health Centers of San Diego, said this wasn't unusual...

“We know from the vaccine clinical trials that it’s going to take about 10 to 14 days for you to start to develop protection from the vaccine," he said. “That first dose we think gives you somewhere around 50%, and you need that second dose to get up to 95%," Ramers added.

Medical experts have confirmed the body needs more time to build up protection...

Let's hope the vaccine gets administered as soon as possible, to prevent any more people from experiencing the same thing. Keep scrolling for more on the pandemic...
