People Want Oprah to Interview Britney Spears | 22 Words

The controversy surrounding Britney Spears and how she was treated in the music industry shook the world earlier this year. And now people are calling for Oprah to take things into her own hands and do a tell-all interview with her...

And the best part is... Apparently, Britney's considering it!

But that's not all... Read on to find out all the details.

Now, the drama surrounding Britney Spears' wellbeing has been dominating headlines in the last few months...

And since the documentary, Framing Britney Spears, was released, fans have been rallying behind the star more.

Since first emerging into the spotlight in 1998, Britney Spears quickly became one of the most famous popstars of her decade.

With hits such as "Oops, I did it again," "Slave 4 U," and "Britney," the Mississippi-born singer consistently topped the charts and was even hailed as the "Princess of Pop."

But, early on, Britney's life started to take a turn for the worst.

The star's mental health began to dramatically deteriorate, and the endless attention and pressure from the public and the press alike started to take its toll.

And in 2007, Britney finally snapped.

The singer suffered a highly-public breakdown in the full glare of the world's spotlight.

Her breakdown was triggered by a number of different factors...

She had spent years battling mental health problems and after her split from husband Kevin Federline, the father of her 2 sons, she headed to rehab in Antigua.

Her stay didn't last, however, as she checked out just twenty-four hours later.

And the shocking images of Britney, then aged twenty-five, emerging from the salon with a freshly-shaven head and attacking a paparazzi's car with an umbrella became one of the most famous snaps of that decade.

A few months following this, she was hospitalized and in 2008, she was seen being carried out of her house after reportedly overdosing on prescription amphetamines and locking herself in the bathroom with her youngest son, Jayden.

It was a very long road to recovery for the pop star...

But she was gradually able to rebuild her relationship with her sons after regaining some of her custody rights and get healthy, before eventually starting to focus on her music comeback. And, despite a few health issues along the way, Britney has become an icon in her own right.

She has gone on to win a number of awards...

And has since continued making huge strides forward, winning back custody of her children, making more successful music, landing a lucrative residency in Las Vegas, and having a number of healthy relationships. She is even in a happy, long-term relationship with her actor boyfriend, Sam Asghari.

However, one sinister consequence of her breakdown still remains to this day.

And that's the questionable role her dad has in her life.

Jamie Spears controls every aspect of his daughter's life.

A Los Angeles court named Jamie as the permanent conservator of his daughter's affairs in 2008 and he was named as the permanent co-conservator of her estate, along with an attorney, Andrew Wallet.

Fans believe that, to this day, Britney's dad dictates her every move...

And many are finding the whole set up to be incredibly problematic, not to mention detrimental to her already fragile mental health.

Concern about the star's wellbeing has been steadily growing in the last year...

And many fans have been left worried by her recent Instagram activity, which includes a number of bizarre and cryptic videos.

Things have been strange, to say the least...

So the hashtag and movement #FreeBritney was catapulted back into the spotlight.

Over the last couple of months, people have been using the hashtag to show their support and solidarity with Britney...

And some have even been taking to the streets of Hollywood to march in protest of her situation.

But Britney recently decided that enough was enough...

And she sought to regain control of her own life.

It was reported late in 2020 that she no longer wanted her dad to be in control of her conservatorship.

The singer's lawyer filed paperwork explaining that she is "strongly opposed" to her father having control of her estate and finances, and instead wishes for her temporary conservator, Jodi Montgomery, to take on the role permanently, TMZ reported.

But sadly, things didn't go Britney's way.

The court rejected Britney's lawsuit against her father which means that he is still in control.

And quite predictably...

It caused a storm online.

Concerns about Britney have continued.

With no sign of things getting better for the star.

The documentary, Framing Britney Spears, which was recently released on Hulu, ramped things up a notch.

It documents Britney's ascent to fame, focusing on the misogyny and paparazzi intrusion that defined much of her career, before delving into the #FreeBritney movement.

It also explores Britney's 3-year relationship with Justin Timberlake...

And the revelations of how Justin treated Britney has caused an utter outrage online, with fans bombarding the "Cry Me A River" singer and demanding him to apologize for his actions.

Justin's crude and disrespectful comments about Britney followed years of tabloid obsession over her virginity...

And according to her, Justin was the only person she'd slept with at that time.

In subsequent interviews, Justin burst out with laughter when asked if Britney had "kept her promise to wait until marriage" to have sex, before confirming that he'd "had oral intercourse" with her: "I did it. I'm dirty."

These are just a few horrifying examples of how Justin allegedly treated Britney during and after their relationship...

After such a rollercoaster of a time during her early years of fame, now people are calling for her to reveal everything about her oppressors in a similar fashion to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry - via an Oprah interview.

Support for the idea was rife online...

However, others were not so convinced it would be good for the star...

But even despite some of the reservations, it seems as though Britney is considering it as an option for her.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Spears currently has no official plans to address her situation publicly, but she's open to the possibility.

A source told the outlet this:

"Britney has considered speaking out about her past, mostly because she doesn't feel others should tell her story. She's always hated doing interviews but if she ever takes that step, Oprah would most likely be her first choice."

But they also added this:

"There will be steps Britney would need to take before speaking out."

The news comes after the source also revealed that Britney is feeling "much happier" due to all the support she received since the release of her documentary.

"Those closest to her feel it's because she's received such tremendous support from her fans," the source said to ET. "The release of the documentary has inspired an outpouring of more love than ever. While she hasn't been able to make changes to her conservatorship, she's received millions of messages from fans on social media and she feels far more understood."

Let's just hope she gets the justice she deserves.
