Oprah 'Livid' With Prince Harry's James Corden Interview | 22 Words

Just days before her groundbreaking interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is set to air, Oprah Winfrey is said to be "livid" about one thing...

And that's James Corden's untimely scoop with the prince himself.

Because, as it turns out, Corden's victorious interview with the royal cost Oprah an awful lot of money.

Here's the full story...

Now, many would argue that, since stepping down as senior royals in January 2020, the scrutiny surrounding Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, has intensified to unimaginable levels.

In a joint statement via Instagram, Harry and Meghan announced that they wanted "a normal upbringing for their child" and they felt that spending their time between the U.K. and America would be much more appropriate for their family environment.

Quite understandably, this came as a huge shock worldwide...

As it did to the royal family themselves.

Reports at the time of the announcement claimed that the Queen wasn't notified of Harry and Meghan's plans to step down until after their social media revealation.

Her Majesty published a statement shortly afterward, which read:

"Discussions with The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are at an early stage. We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through."

Harry's relationship with his brother, William, also came under strain following his departure, reports claimed.

The future King of England was reported to have distanced himself from Harry and Meghan, with claims surfacing that the pair didn't speak for months.

But, regardless of the controversy, the couple stuck to their word and made the move to Los Angeles...

Where they remain today in Montecito, Santa Barbara, an area renowned for its secluded hillside estates that promise the utmost privacy and, thus, have attracted a whole host of celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, Tom Cruise, and Ellen DeGeneres, who all own homes there.

In the past year, the couple has busied themselves with projects outside of the royal circle...

And various rumors of multi-million dollar Netflix and Spotify deals were quick to circulate online.

The pair seem to be living the lives they've always wanted in L.A...

And to make things even more exciting, they announced on Valentine's Day that they are expecting their second child together with this highly-publicized photoshoot.

But despite the big move and step down, the couple still weren't content with their roles in the British monarchy...

So, last month, they announced that they would officially not be returning as working members of the royal family.

A statement from Buckingham Palace said the royals were "saddened by their decision" but that Harry and Meghan "remain much-loved members of the family."

"Following conversations with The Duke, The Queen has written confirming that in stepping away from the work of The Royal Family it is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service," the statement read.

"The honorary military appointments and Royal patronages held by The Duke and Duchess will therefore be returned to Her Majesty, before being redistributed among working members of The Royal Family."

Predictably, the announcement triggered a media storm...

And among all of the love and support came the negativity and surges of criticism.

In the weeks following their dramatic departure, the couple remained relatively under the radar...

Until Harry took part in a widely televised interview with friend and host, James Corden, last week.

The royal appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden in his first public interview since stepping down to chat about his new life in L.A.

He was interviewed by Corden on an open-top tour bus - all while drinking tea, of course - as he opened up about what life has been like for him, Meghan, and Archie in the last year.

Here, Harry also revealed - for the first time - the reason he and Meghan stepped away from the royal family.

When asked, "what made you walk away from the royal family?", Harry politely corrected him by saying, "I didn't walk away."

"It was stepping back rather than stepping down. It was a really difficult environment that I think a lot of people saw... we all know what the British press can be like! And it was destroying my mental health, I was like 'this is toxic!'"

"I did what any husband and father would do."

"I needed to get my family out of there!" he then said.

"But we never walked away. And as far as I'm concerned whatever decisions are made on that side, I will never walk away. I will always be contributing but my life is public service, so wherever I am in the world it's going to be the same thing."

"My life is always going to be about public service and Meghan signed up for that."

"The 2 of us enjoy doing that and trying to bring compassion and try to make people happy, and try to change the world in any small way we can," he explained.

It's needless to say that Corden's interview was a roaring success...

And, in just one week, has had over fifteen million views worldwide.

But there's one person who wasn't too impressed with the bus-top, afternoon-tea-infested interview...

And that's Oprah.

As you will know, her bombshell interview with Meghan and Harry is due to air this weekend on March 7th...

But, having released his interview last week, Corden definitely got the juicy details surrounding the couple's private life out there first, meaning that her interview is no longer the exclusive that Oprah wanted it to be.

Well, the TV icon is reportedly not happy at all.

Speaking about how Oprah's chat could have been devalued by Harry's reveal, the I Paper's Late Editor, Benjamin Butterworth said, as per The Mirror:

"I think they were desperate to get their story out there."

He explained that Harry's revealation as to why he stepped away from the royal family will have impacted Oprah's interview massively.

"Anyone that saw James Corden and Prince Harry on Friday, first of all, Oprah must have been livid that he'd already given the line of why he quit the Royals to James Corden so she's not got that as an exclusive."

According to Butterworth, Oprah's budget would have taken a huge hit because of this as she was hoping to have kept that line for herself.

He explained:

"So she's wasted a couple of million there but I just find it utterly extraordinary how a couple that is so rich and has had such a high position in life as the Duke and Duchess can manage to make themselves appear so cheap."

Oprah With Meghan And Harry: A CBS Primetime Special will premiere on CBS News on Sunday, March 7th at 8 pm.

For Oprah's sake, make sure you tune in.
