A pandemic has taken over.

From shops to restaurants to schools.

With things beginning to reopen.

In order to minimize risk.

Including here in the US.

For example in some retail stores like Costco customers are required to wear one.

To provide them with peace of mind.

Not only are they in short supply, after most countries in the world are requiring PPE.

Both for themselves and for essential workers, as they are not being provided with enough.

Particularly when they are worn for a long period of time.

You may think the uncomfortable nature is a small price to pay for the safety they could provide.

That is not the case for babies.

As face masks could be extremely dangerous for babies, even putting them at risk of suffocation.

Vanessa Madrid took to Facebook to explain the risks of them.

And as they are small, if they are having difficulty breathing they can’t simply take off the mask themselves.

It is likely that they will not like wearing the mask, meaning they will try to touch it, which could simply spread germs from the babies’ hands to face.

She also wrote “Older infants or young toddlers are not likely to keep the mask on and will likely try to remove it, as well as touch their face more, which passes germs from hands to face. There are no N95 masks approved for children.”

The post quickly went viral with almost 80,000 shares.

Though not everyone was impressed with the advice as they wrote “Another mum spouting ‘science’.”

For any parent, all they want is for their child to be safe. For more discussions on wearing face masks, keep scrolling…
