A survivor of the tragic Parkland, Florida school shooting in 2018 recently revealed that his father has been tangled up in the QAnon web, believing that the massacre that killed seventeen people at his school was fake.

The eighteen-year-old was part of Majority Stoneman Douglas High School's final graduating class of survivors of the mass shooting. He spoke to Vice News, keeping his name private under the alias Bill, after sharing his story on a Reddit thread dedicated to supporting friends and family of QAnon followers.

He protected his identity out of concern over attacks by conspiracy theorists but said his father believes the shooting that killed 9 of his classmates was a hoax and that the shooter, Bill, and his classmates were "paid pawns in a grand conspiracy orchestrated by some shadowy force," Vice reported.

Bill's father is said to have become tangled by conspiracy theories as the pandemic kicked off when anti-lockdown protests were taking place.

"His feelings were so strong it turned into facts for him. So if he didn't like having to wear masks it wouldn't matter what doctors or scientists said," he explained. "Anything that contradicted his feelings was wrong. So he turned to the internet to find like-minded people which led him to QAnon."

"I think my dad has gone f**king insane. It's going way too far and I have had trouble processing the last 5 months. He's always been very conservative, but now QAnon has consumed his life to the point where it's tearing our family apart along with my mental health."

Bill's father then saw footage of Marjorie Taylor Greene harassing Parkland shooting survivor and gun safety activist David Hogg in 2018, leading to him convincing himself that the school shooting was a hoax.

Greene is one out of many people who thought that the shooting was a "fake" way of prompting stricter gun laws.

On the app Reddit, Bill has found a community dedicated to QAnon Casualties, who support families and friends of those deeply ingrained in the ludicrousy of QAnon.

Hogg said: "There's no amount of money that you could ever pay any of us to do this work because that's not why we do it. None of us want to be doing this but we have to because sadly corrupt elected officials like Marjorie Taylor Greene are in congress and would rather choose to protect guns than children.

"She talks as well saying that she is an American citizen almost as if she's implying I'm not just as American as she is or any of us are.

"Simply for not wanting any of our friends to die anymore. That's just horrific and disgusting."

Bill claimed in his Reddit post that his dad had said: "You're a real piece of work to be able to sit here and act like nothing ever happened if it wasn't a hoax. Shame on you for being part of it and putting your family through it too."
