Demi Lovato made the shock announcement today that she's now engaged, after 5 months of dating, in an emotional post to fans.
But, it seems some fans are less than impressed with the ring...
Demi Lovato has found love. The star seemingly confirmed her new relationship just a couple of months back.
And she revealed some amazing news to fans this week.
But it seems that not everyone is impressed...
Demi Lovato hasn't had an easy private life. The twenty-seven-year-old is best known for singles such as "Don't Forget," "Here We Go Again," and "Tell Me You Love Me," but she hasn't had the easiest of rides when it comes to her personal life.
Although many of us also know her from Disney channel...Lovato was the star of Sonny with a Chance, which debuted in 2009. And who can forget Camp Rock?
Lovato has been open about her struggles with mental health...And is often praised for her candid and honest approach to the topic.
Lovato also has a history of substance abuse.
Lovato opened up about her mental health for the first time in this infamous interview 7 years ago. While being interviewed on GMA, the star was candid and honest about her mental health struggles. This interview marked the first time the singer opened up about what had been going on behind closed doors.
This is not the only time that Lovato has shared her battle with self-love, recovery, and her eating disorder.YouTube documentary, Simply Complicated. The film followed her life and she spoke very candidly about her past drug addiction, battle with her weight, and taking control of her life.
Lovato had previously been sober for nearly 6 years, though her battle with an eating disorder is ongoing.she said in the film, after she admitted to recently relapsing and purging. The star has admitted that her "destructive behavior" stems from her eating disorder.
Her vulnerability and honesty are perhaps why fans feel so connected to Lovato.
Lovato explained that it's hard for her to not constantly think about her eating disorder."I don’t want to give it the power that it controls my every thought, but it’s something that I’m constantly thinking about," she said.
Lovato spoke about how she's envious of people who don't deal with thoughts like these."I get envious towards people who don’t struggle with an eating disorder because I think my life would be so much easier."
Lovato explains that her toxic relationship with food started when she was a little girl.In the documentary, Lovato says: "The food came first, when I was 8 years old and my little sister was born, a lot of the attention was taken off me and onto my little sister."
Emotional eating is common, and if not addressed can lead to unhealthy and dangerous habits.Lovato explained that food often acted as a sort of "medicine" for her. "I had started working at that time and was under a lot of stress so I would bake cookies for my family, and I would eat all of them and nobody would have any to eat. That was my first memory of food being that medicine for me."
Her struggle with food often comes at highly emotional times in her life."When I was in a relationship, I went three years without purging and when we broke up that’s one of the first things I did," she says in the film.
Even though she continues to struggle with it, Lovato is one strong human being. It takes true bravery to be honest with the world, and Lovato continues to do so through her personal posts on social media.
But in 2018, the singer had a relapse...reported that she was found unconscious and was revived with Narcan, a medication to reverse the effects of a narcotic overdose.
After spending time in a treatment facility, the singer addressed her relapse on Instagram...
Over the past year, she has remained relatively out of the spotlight.
Over the pandemic, however, fans were shocked to see a mystery man popping up in her snaps. The guy turned out to be Max Ehrich, who was reported to have been quarantining with Lovato at her home.
It's not known exactly how the pair met.But rumors of their relationship began swirling around from March, despite at the beginning of the month, Lovato telling Ellen DeGeneres that she was single. "I was on dating apps for a while, but as I've spent some time with myself over the past couple months, I realized that I am the type of person that will find any way to regulate when I'm sad or lonely or whatever," Lovato said during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
She went on to clarify she was single.
Eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice that Lovato was constantly commenting on Ehrich's snaps with flirty messages.
Her and Ehrich's relationship has been getting more serious over the months...
Lovato even accidentally gatecrashed Ehrich's Instagram live. And when she realized she was on camera, covered herself with a blanket.
Ever since, the couple have been posting several loved-up snaps to Instagram.
A source revealed that Ehrich is super supportive of Lovato's sobriety.
By April, things were looking pretty solid for the new couple.
They even appeared in the video for Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber's duet, "Stuck With U."The video included several celebrity cameos. Lovato posted a snippet of the music video on her Instagram, writing: "Happy to be a part of something so special right now. Like really REALLY happy if you can't tell..." Meanwhile, Ehrich wrote: "my whole heart."
So, it's safe to say the couple are very much in love.
And this week, the couple had a shock announcement for fans.... They're engaged!
Lovato took to Instagram today to share the happy news with her followers."When I was a little girl, my birth dad always called me his 'little partner' - something that might’ve sounded strange without his southern cowboy like accent. To me it made perfect sense," she wrote. "And today that word makes perfect sense again but today I’m officially going to be someone else’s partner."
She continued her heartfelt post:"@maxehrich - I knew I loved you the moment I met you. It was something I can’t describe to anyone who hasn’t experienced it firsthand but luckily you did too... I’ve never felt so unconditionally loved by someone in my life (other than my parents) flaws and all. "
"You never pressure me to be anything other than myself."
The star then goes on to say how she can't wait to start a family with him."I love you more than a caption could express but I’m ecstatic to start a family and life with you. I love you forever my baby. My partner. Here’s to our future!!!!"
Some said they'd say no based off the ring alone.
