People have been left baffled after discovering the similarities between the plots of Liam Neeson’s movies.
Now, this discovery has shocked many…
The star, who was born in Northern Ireland, has been in some of the biggest productions of our time.
The big-screen native began pursuing an acting career in the mid-’70s.
His breakout role came with the 1993 Holocaust blockbuster, Schindler’s List.
Neeson garnered an Academy Award nomination for his role in the acclaimed movie…
And it well and truly shot him to box office fame.
The actor went on to headline several films throughout the ’90s…
Including the likes of Nell (1994), Rob Roy (1995), Michael Collins (1996), and an adaptation of Les Misérables (1998).
Oh, and who could forget?
The actor bagged the role of Jedi mentor Qui-Gon Jinn in the highly-anticipated Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.
In 2004, Neeson starred in Kinsey which earned a Golden Globe nomination for his work.
The following year, he returned to the superhero genre as Ra’s al Ghul in Batman Begins and voiced Aslan the lion for the first of 3 movie adaptations of The Chronicles of Narnia.
And, perhaps most famously…
One of his most popular roles to date came with 2008’s Taken, where he portrays an ex-CIA operative on the hunt for his kidnapped daughter.
But even in more recent years, Neeson continues to act.
And a recent work came in 2019 in Cold Pursuit — it seems there really is no stopping the actor, doesn’t it?
But last year, Neeson offered some surprising news.
He announced that he will be retiring from action movies.
Of course, his announcement was met with shock and heartache by fans from all over the world…
Because what is Neeson without action movies?
He made the revelation in an interview with ET.
“Oh, yeah. I think so,” he said in response to being asked if his action movie career is coming to an end. “I’m sixty-eight and a half!”
But don’t worry, there are still a few more Neeson action movies in the pipeline!
“There’s a couple more I’m going to do this year – hopefully, COVID allowing us – there’s a couple in the pipeline and, then I think that will probably be it.
“Well, unless I’m on a [walker] or something,” he explained.
But there is something interesting about the star that fans have noticed this week…
Because Neeson has done so many movies in similar genres, many of them are kind of… well, similar!
“He has a particular set of skills, skills that he has acquired over a very long career and he’s sticking to them,” one fan joked.
Reddit user Vonnegut_butt noticed something about Blacklight, The Marksman, Memory, Honest Thief, The Commuter, and Unknown.
“I hate people who say that Liam Neeson keeps making the same movie over and over,” they joked.
So do these movies really have the same plot?
Well, in Memory, Neeson is an “expert assassin who refuses to complete a job for a dangerous criminal organization.”
While in The Marksman, he plays a “retired Marine living on the Mexican border who tries to save a mother and son as they are being hunted by a cartel.”
And in Blacklight, Neeson plays a “shadowy government agent who specialises in removing operatives whose covers have been exposed.”
So it does seem as though there’s a theme in the sort of roles Neeson has played…
Plus, his movies’ plotlines often seem to place him at odds with a large and/or corrupt organization.
“Bruce Willis’ IMDB page has entered the chat,” joked one fellow Redditor.
“I love how you got 6 examples without needing to use any of the Taken movies,” another pointed out.
However, one Redditor pointed out: “He even jokes about it himself.
“He’s said things along the lines of when he was young, he was a boxer, athlete, did manual labour, lived in rough areas, and he couldn’t get action roles but now he’s an old, broken down fart, and he’s cast as the tough guy.”
