The six ‘refreshed’ characters are quite obviously wearing new shoes. The green M&M has thrown out her high-heeled boots for sneakers, while the brown candy is wearing lower heels.

The red and yellow characters’ shoes have laces, while the orange character’s shoes now have untied laces.

Apparently, the characters are going for a ‘fresh and modern take’ on their personalities and a ‘more nuanced style’…

A brand representative said, “We took a deep look at our characters, both inside and out, and have evolved their look, personalities, and backstories to be more representative of today’s society.

“As the world changes, so do we.”

Many on the internet were in an uproar over the change…

“THEY’RE F**KING CANDY WHAT ARE YOU REDESIGNING,” chipped in a fourth.

Larissa Murray has told TMZ that she believes it’s a change that should be embraced.

She said this new, more woke society calls for embracing more non-binary appearances.

Since then, people have just discovered what the iconic brand actually stands for…

“Knowing that M&M’s where created for soldiers in WW2, I assumed M&M stood for Military Munchies. When you assume,” one user wrote on Reddit.

“I legitimately felt good learning that…thank you,” another wrote.

“I always thought it just stood for ‘MMMMMM!'” a third said.

As per reports, Forrest E. Mars Sr is also the businessman behind some of the best of the chocolates you find in a Celebration box.

Mars son of Frank C. Mars, founder of the Mars company is said to have come up with the idea for a chocolate button with a hard-shelled exterior after trying to think of a way to prevent chocolate from melting too easily.

But did you know that World War Two began which created problems for the makers which were actually a miracle in disguise?

This is when Mars came up with the idea for a chocolate button with a hard-shelled exterior after trying to think of a way to prevent chocolate from melting too easily.

As per reports, Mars, with the help of Hershey Chocolate president William F.R. Murrie’s son, Bruce Murrie, settled for a 20 percent stake in the chocolate brand.

The design of M&M’s meant soldiers could carry them without fear of the chocolate melting…

One slogan for the snack read at the time: “Melts in your mouth, not in your hand.”

But World War Two ended and rationing came to a halt three years later…

And Mars bought out Murrie’s shares and so the company became solely owned by Mars again.

Apparently, Mars is for Forrest E. Mars Sr, and Murrie for Bruce Murrie, Mars and Murrie being the two founders of the US chocolate brand.

Well, what do you think?
