In Time wasn’t exactly a hit movie at the time.

In fact, it received a pretty average score on IMDb of 6.7/10.

The reviews say it all…

One viewer wrote: “This could have become a new SciFi milestone if it wasn’t for the poorly executed script, stiff acting, and highly predictable plot.”

Yikes.

Another unimpressed watcher commented: “The scenes are thrown together and feel like reenacted from typical Bonnie and ClydeRomeo and Juliet, two against the world and enemy of the state type movies. None of the scenes seem original or well executed.”

So it’s clear that, at the time, people weren’t overly impressed with the movie.

However, it seems people are now changing their minds…

The premise of the story, which sees Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried take center stage, is that “time has become the ultimate currency.”

According to IMDb, the storyline goes: “You stop aging at 25, but there’s a catch: you’re genetically engineered to live only one more year, unless you can buy your way out of it. The rich ‘earn’ decades at a time (remaining at age 25), becoming essentially immortal, while the rest beg, borrow or steal enough hours to make it through the day.”

The movie follows Timberlake’s character, Will Salas, as he attempts to put a stop to the corrupt system.

After being gifted 100 years for saving a rich man’s life, he attempts to gift them to his mother, but sadly he’s too late, and in an act of vengeance he kidnaps the daughter (Amanda Seyfried) of a rich man.

Together they fight to bring down the rich and powerful in an attempt to save civilization.

And it seems that with everything happening in the world right now, more and more people have realized the eery correlation the movie has to the world today.

Interestingly, comments have been pouring in under the trailer on YouTube from people only now connecting the dots.

The key message being that the rich are getting richer, while the poor get poorer.

One fan wrote: “This movie is criminally underrated. In Time has a really deep message to society. From economics to inequality in society, this movie represents everything perfectly.”

“This movie is more relevant now than ever, seriously underrated,” said another.

While a third pointed out: “Immortality–such an interesting concept indeed.

“But what caught me in is the realistic portrayal of society, where the rich keeps getting rich and the poor dies. Timely and relevant isn’t it?”

The movie is available on Amazon Prime to rent or buy, and it’s definitely an interesting watch.
