Pierce Brosnan has revealed just exactly why he didn’t win the titular role in Tim Burton’s Batman movie.

And it’s none other than Keanu Reeves!

Reeves opened up about his love for the character in a recent interview with Extra.

The star of The Matrix said: “I love Batman as a character, and I love him in the comic books, in the films, so to get the opportunity to voice, to play Batman, was awesome.”

Despite admitting he’d love to play the DC superhero, he had some reservations.

He said: “It’s always been a dream, but Pattinson’s got Batman right now. He’s doing awesome.”

However, the fifty-eight-year-old didn’t rule it out altogether, explaining: “Maybe down the road. Maybe when they need an older Batman.”

Pierce Brosnan has revealed that he actually auditioned for the role back in 1989.

Now, you probably know Brosnan better in his iconic role as James Bond.

The star played the legendary character over the course of 4 movies from 1995 to 2002.

More recently, fans will recognize him for his roles in Mamma Mia!

However, now the sixty-nine-year-old star has revealed some secrets from his past career.

And it totally wasn’t what we were expecting!

Speaking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, Brosnan revealed that over thirty yeats ago, he auditioned for the role of Batman.

The role would eventually go to Michael Keaton.

Speaking about his experience, he said: “I went up for Batman way back in the day when Tim Burton was doing it. Obviously, I didn’t get the job.”

“Obviously, I didn’t get the job.”

He continued: “I remember saying something stupid to Tim Burton.

“I said, ‘You know I can’t understand any man who would wear his underpants outside his trousers.’”

Brosnan concluded by saying: “But there you go… the best man got the job.”
