Piers Morgan's Outbursts About Meghan Markle | 22 Words

It's just been confirmed that Piers Morgan's constant outbursts about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on British TV are the most complained about moments in the U.K... ever.

And are we surprised?

Of course we aren't!

Read on to find out exactly why the hot-headed journalist has just reached this new record...

Now, we all know where this started, don't we?

Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, sat down on March 7th for an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey to tell their side of the story and to explain their reasonings behind stepping down from the royal family.

The seventeen million people who tuned in to watch the exclusive interview worldwide just haven't been sure what to believe...

And there's been quite the divide in opinions online.

Of course, millions have rallied behind the couple...

And people have been expressing their sympathy for Harry and Meghan over what they've have had to endure in the last 5 years.

But of course, many others haven't been as sympathetic...

And Piers Morgan is one of those people.

Now, we all know that the British journalist has had a personal vendetta against Meghan for quite some time...

And it all seemingly started back in 2016, just weeks before Meghan went public with Harry.

The pair went out for a drink together while Meghan was in London...

And it was clear that Piers was charmed by the Suits actress... and this tweet is solid proof of that fact!

He later wrote a column about his conversation with Meghan, saying he wasn't "surprised he's [Prince Harry] fallen for her, or that he's so ferociously protecting their relationship."

"Meghan Markle is perfect princess material. Just put any proposal in writing."

But it wasn't until Harry and Meghan's engagement when things started to go a little pear-shaped on the Piers Morgan front.

The journalist wasn't invited to the wedding, despite him repeatedly bugging "his friend" Meghan on Twitter for an invite.

This is when Meghan supposedly "ghosted" him...

And Piers hasn't heard anything from Meghan since... something that's clearly touched a nerve.

Just days after Harry and Meghan tied the knot in 2018, Piers angrily penned his first of many abusive columns against the pair, accusing Meghan of "scripting" the perfect day for her wedding and turning in "an Oscar-winning performance."

The broadcaster even went on to admit his feelings were hurt from not being invited to the wedding.

"She ghosted me, Ryan!" when host Ryan Tubridy asked him what happened on The Late Late Show in September 2018.

"Meghan Markle ghosted me. I really liked her — this is why it hurts. She's just a slight social climber, I'm afraid."

Well, this is when things really started to get out of hand.

Over the last 3 years, Piers' clear obsession with Meghan has grown beyond belief, with his bitterness over her snubbing of him escalating into anger.

Alongside Twitter, Piers would use his position as co-host of Good Morning Britain - one of the most-watched breakfast shows in the U.K - to make his opinion of the Sussexes very apparent.

He even invited Meghan's estranged father, Thomas Markle, onto the show numerous times to try and tarnish her name even further.

Piers' obsession was becoming concerning...

And it was soon apparent that this was a form of bullying; something that most definitely contributed to Harry and Meghan stepping down from the royal family after being relentlessly attacked by the press and public figures like Piers.

And just when people thought his obsession couldn't get any worse...

Harry and Meghan's interview with Oprah aired on March 7th, which sent their critics - including Piers - into a media frenzy.

The claims that both Meghan and Harry came out with were mind-blowing, to say the least.

Ranging from racism accusations to a huge lack of mental health support when Meghan was reportedly feeling suicidal, the royal family was portrayed in a very bad light.

Piers was furious over what he heard in the interview...

And he viciously attacked Meghan on both Twitter and Good Morning Britain in a manner he had never done before.

From referring to her suicidal thoughts as a way of "attention-seeking" to laying into her for the way she dressed during the interview...

Piers did not hold back, which resulted in many accused him of bullying the former senior royal, even after knowing the torment she underwent by the press (who he is still an editor for, may I add!)

His remarks were also criticized by his co-presenters and on social media, with ITV being called "hypocritical" for allowing him to do so while simultaneously running a mental health campaign.

People began arguing back and defending the Sussexes...

Which on one occasion resulted in Piers storming off the set of GMB after weatherman Alex Beresford called him out for relentlessly attacking Meghan for "cutting him out."

Piers eventually made the decision to step down from his role as co-host of GMB when producers of the show pleaded with him to make a public apology.

And he made his adamance to refuse to apologize very clear on social media.

"On Monday, I said I didn't believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview. I've had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don't. If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill I'm happy to die on. Thanks for all the love, and hate. I'm off to spend more time with my opinions," he tweeted upon the news of his resignation along with a picture of former Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

But just because he no longer works for GMB doesn't mean he's planning on keeping his mouth shut...

And he's been taking to social media to spew his opinions on pretty much everything and anything.

Of course, Harry and Meghan are still firm targets...

And Piers continues to attack and blame them for "smearing lies" about the royal family.

It's exactly this kind of behavior that ultimately lost Piers his job in the first place...

Because unbelievably so, the journalist received a staggering amount of complaints to Ofcom, the U.K's communications regulator, over his persistent attacks on Meghan.

So much so...

That he's actually set a record for creating the most complained about TV moments in the U.K... ever.

Piers' comments about Meghan following the Oprah interview have since received more than 57,000 complaints...

One of which being from Meghan herself!

Ofcom released the updated number of complaints against the former GMB host today...

And the official number now stands at 57,121, surpassing the 44,500 regarding Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty's treatment by Jade Goody and Danielle Lloyd on Celebrity Big Brother in 2007 - previously the regulator's most complained about incident of all time.

An Ofcom spokesperson said, "We can confirm that this issue has attracted the highest number of complaints since our reporting began."

The investigation into the issue is still ongoing.
