It seems as if many think the rift between Prince Charles and Prince Harry could be put to rest after he "extended an olive branch" to the family on Archie's 2nd birthday.

But not everyone's so sure about that...

This week marks baby Archie's second birthday.

But it's the tribute from Prince Charles that got everybody talking...

He posted a birthday tribute to his grandson.

But many people noticed a few things in particular about the photo...

While some only pointed out negative elements of the post, others saw the hope and positivity behind it...

Some even went as far as to say he was "extending an olive branch" in order to help repair the troubled relationship with his son.

Once you have a look at the snapshot, you'll see...

The news comes just a few weeks after they both reunited at Prince Phillip's funeral.

Have a look for yourselves...

Now, this whole controversy started in 2016 when Prince Harry started dating Los Angeles-based actress, Meghan Markle.

Meghan's career as an actress seemed to be instantly swapped for a life fulfilling royal duties and there's no denying how she immediately revolutionized the royal family.

And there was no denying how happy they looked together.

After a year of dating, the couple announced their engagement...

Much to the delight of their fan-base worldwide!

They married in the historical Windsor Castle in May 2018...

Which made Meghan an official part of the royal family. She relocated to London and was given the title, the Duchess of Sussex.

The couple announced their pregnancy shortly after the wedding...

And Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born in May of 2019.

Even though the little family seemed to radiate with happiness...

Things were far from the case behind the scenes as Meghan was relentlessly attacked by the British press and public.

Anything she did or said...

The British media had something to say about it. Whether she was being branded as a diva, a control-freak, a "monarchy ruiner," and even a bad mother, Meghan received it all.

This prompted the couple to make the bold decision to step down from royal duties earlier this year.

In a joint statement, the couple said that they wanted "a normal upbringing for their child" and they feel that spending their time between the U.K. and America would be much more appropriate for their family environment.

This came as a huge shock worldwide...

But nobody was more shocked than those in the royal family.

Harry's relationship with his brother William also came under strain following his departure.

The future King of England was reported to have distanced himself from Harry and Meghan and the pair didn't speak for months.

It's terribly sad to learn of the brothers' separation...

Because they've grown up together being so close, especially since the death of their mom, Princess Diana.

It seems that William was cautious of Meghan from the get-go.

"Don't feel you need to rush this," William told Harry in 2016, according to royal sources, "Take as much time as you need to get to know this girl."

Harry reportedly didn't appreciate William referring to Meghan as "this girl."

"Harry heard the tone of the snobbishness that was anathema to his approach to the world. During his 10-year career in the military, outside the royal bubble, he had learned not to make snap judgments of people based on their accent, education, ethnicity class or profession."

This tension continued to grow following a conversation between the brothers about Harry and Meghan's engagement.

William allegedly continued to warn Harry, which is something Harry didn't do when it came to William and Kate's engagement.

"What made it very hurtful for Harry is that he has always given William his full support particularly with Kate. Not everyone adored Kate Middleton in the beginning. Some of William's friends were snobbish about Kate, but Harry gave her the thumbs up from the outset and he expected the same loyalty back from William."

William felt his brother was abandoning his sense of duty and birthright...

Especially when Harry supposedly "snubbed" the Queen by not joining her and the Cambridges for a summer holiday to Balmoral.

Following Harry and Meghan's wedding, the brothers began spending less and less time with one another...

And when the Sussexes' made the decision to step down from royal duties and relocate to L.A, the brothers were barely on speaking terms, according to sources.

Neither of the brothers have publicly spoken out about their supposed feud...

Not even after rumors of a "bitter explosion" erupting between them both.

It was reportedly so bad, that the late Diana's brother, Charles Spencer, was forced to intervene for his nephews.

According to an excerpt from Battle of Brothers, the book by royal expert Robert Lacey, "From time to time Diana's younger brother had played something of an honorary godfather to both boys in the years since the death of their mother, and their uncle agreed with William to see what he could do."

But after the reasons behind the bitter feud were made public via the Oprah interview, it was clear why Harry had to get his family away.

Racism, tough restrictions, and the media all played a crucial part in the destruction of the royal family.

However, after Prince Phillip's funeral, we saw some signs of hope for reconciliation.

Reports stated that William even waited for his younger brother after the event and they walked away together.

We even heard that Harry penned an emotional letter to his father.

But even despite these little pockets of light, it seems as though royal experts aren't sure if things will ever patch up properly.

Royal writer Charlie Rae told talkRADIO that they're very unlikely "to open up their arms again" to Harry.

When the host of the show Kevin O'Sullivan said "We read that Harry was shocked by the frosty reception he got from some members of the Royal Family," Rae answered: "Out in the US, Harry looks like a startled rabbit caught in the headlights."

He continued:

"I believe that this is a problem that will never go away, it will not be solved.

"I do not believe that William and Charles will be extending their open arms again to Harry in the light of what he said.

"They sla**ed off Kate. I think it's too far now."

Another royal expert, Christina Garibaldi also added that "Charles is still fuming about Harry throwing shade at him and the Royal Family in the big interview and won't let it drop.

"After the damage, Harry has caused the family he firmly believes that his son doesn't deserve the privilege of being a royal."

But this week, following baby Archie's second birthday, the rift seems to be a hot talking point again...

Prince Charles' tribute to the tot got everybody talking...

A photograph consisting of only Charles, Harry, and baby Archie...

Instagram

While some people focussed on the negative aspects - the fact that Meghan was nowhere to be seen in the photograph, and the awkward fact that Charles did not post a tribute for Princess Charlotte when her birthday recently passed, other people had a more positive outlook on the tribute.

Fans claimed that the royal was showing "class" even given the trouble.

Instagram

"You're all class Charles under very trying circumstances,'" one wrote.

So this heartwarming photograph was branded "an olive branch."

We hope to see the father-son duo reunite in happier circumstances very soon.
