Prince William and Kate Middleton didn’t exactly receive a royal welcome in Boston for the Celtics vs. Miami game.

It seems the crowd wasn’t that impressed when they came up on the jumbotron.

So much so, that they were booed.

Now, the British Royal family is arguably the most famous family in the world.

Yes, even more famous than our beloved Kardashians.

It’s safe to say we’re pretty invested in their lives…

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, or William and Kate, as we know them best, are the firm favorites of the younger, more modern monarchy.

Following their lavish, and highly documented royal wedding in 2011…

The couple were thrown into the media spotlight, and we still can’t get enough of them.

Their love story is the sweetest fairytale…

William, who is the son of King Charles and in line for the throne, met Kate at the University of St Andrew’s in Scotland in 2001.

They hit it off straight away…

And clearly couldn’t stay away from each other, as their engagement was announced in 2010, 9 years after they first met.

Then came their adorable children…

In July 2013, Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge was born, becoming the third in line to the throne of Great Britain.

Kate emerged from St. Mary’s hospital in London in a blue polka dot dress…

Many saw this as a fitting tribute to Princess Diana, who wore a similar spotty attire herself some thirty-one years earlier.

Then there were 2!

Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana was born in May 2015, just under 2 years after her older brother.

Kate gave birth to their third child, Prince Louis, who was born on 23 April 2018.

Princess Charlotte became the first female royal to retain her claim to the throne, despite having a younger brother.

Before the Succession to the Crown Act 2013, the birth of a son meant that he would leap over any older daughters in the line of succession.

But, now that Princess Charlotte hasn’t been ruled out by gender, Prince Louis remains fifth-in-line to the throne, while Charlotte is fourth-in-line behind her older brother, Prince George.

William and Kate really are the next generation of royals…

They have been paving the path to a more modern monarchy.

I mean we all remember this iconic get-up Kate wore in her student fashion show.

Since becoming the Duchess, Kate’s style has evolved into something unparalleled.

She is now known for her sophisticated style…

And the adorable princes and princess clearly get their style from their parents. In fact, they look identical…

The boys clearly take after their dad…

Prince George and Prince William could literally be the same person!

Then there’s Prince Louis…

This is quite simply one of the sweetest things we’ve seen.

The family is the always making the news…

And it seems the couple is hitting the headlines once again, but for a very different reason.

It seems they ventured out to Boston this week…

But things didn’t exactly go to plan.

The pair were seen at the TD Garden Arena for the Celtics vs. Miami Heat game…

And fans gave them a pretty hard time when they spotted them on the jumbotron.

Taking to Twitter, one user wrote: “I mean it’s Boston, also you can’t expect the royal coupled to be overly cheered in this economy most people can’t even afford the cheap seats yet Kate flaunts the crown’s diamonds at parties.

“So it not surprising at all, out of touch with the Joe Everyman of today.”

“Oh dear are they booing & chanting USA at Prince William and Kate? Embarrassing,” another wrote.

“Much less embarrassing than people still pretending that these inbred aristocrats and their silly titles actually mean anything to most people in the 21st century,” a third responded.

According to videos posted on Twitter of their appearance, there was a mixture of cheers and boos for the royal couple…

Reporter Avi Carr-Gloth wrote alongside a viral video of the pair: “Prince William and Princess Kate on the Jumbotron at TD Garden followed by a smattering of boos and USA chants.”

ITV news editor Chris Ship also wrote: “So both times William and Kate appeared on the @tdgarden big screen there were cheers but also some boos. Along with chants of ‘USA, USA.'”
