Dean Stockwell has died aged eighty-five years old.

The news of his passing earlier this week was confirmed by a rep to TMZ.

Stockwell had an incredibly successful career spanning for more than seventy years.

He first began his acting career in the 1940s as a child actor.

Breaking into Hollywood, Stockwell earned his name in movies such as Anchors Aweigh, The Green Years and Gentleman’s Agreement.

As a young adult, he landed his first lead role in the 1957 Broadway and 1959 screen adaptations of Compulsion.

But, of course, there’s one thing that Stockwell is best known for…

His role as Admiral Al Calavicci on Quantum Leap.

From 1989 to 1993, Stockwell starred in all ninety-seven episodes of the sci-fi show.

Airing over 5 seasons, the show earned Stockwell several Emmy nominations, and in 1990 he won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor.

Stockwell was also recognised for his incredible work in the 1988’s film, Married To The Mob

For his role as Tony ‘The Tiger’ Russo, Stockwell earned an Oscar nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category.

He passed away early on Sunday morning at home.
