Meghan Markle has been making headlines for years - however in the past few weeks, it seems there's more news than ever about her.
Amidst huge backlash towards the Royal Family, countless celebrities have now called upon the Queen to issue an apology to Meghan Markle...
And now, the Queen herself has finally broken her silence.
The Royal Family are facing a lot of backlash.
And now even the Queen herself has broken her silence.
Now, many would argue that, since stepping down as senior royals in January 2020, the scrutiny surrounding Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, has intensified to unimaginable levels.
In a joint statement via Instagram, Harry and Meghan announced that they wanted "a normal upbringing for their child" and they felt that spending their time between the U.K. and America would be much more appropriate for their family environment.
Quite understandably, this came as a huge shock worldwide...
As it did to the royal family themselves.
Reports at the time of the announcement claimed that the Queen wasn't notified of Harry and Meghan's plans to step down until after their social media revealation.
Her Majesty published a statement shortly afterward, which read:
"Discussions with The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are at an early stage. We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through."
Harry's relationship with his brother, William, also came under strain following his departure, reports claimed.
via: GettyThe future King of England was reported to have distanced himself from Harry and Meghan, with claims surfacing that the pair didn't speak for months.
But, regardless of the controversy, the couple stuck to their word and made the move to Los Angeles...
Where they remain today in Montecito, Santa Barbara, an area renowned for its secluded hillside estates that promise the utmost privacy and, thus, have attracted a whole host of celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, Tom Cruise, and Ellen DeGeneres, who all own homes there.
The pair seem to be living the lives they've always wanted in L.A...
Aw! Such incredible news. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expecting a second baby. Beautiful image. Happy Valentine’s Day all! ❤️ pic.twitter.com/3v0M3NtHQy— Sarah Packer (@Sarah_EmilyP) February 14, 2021
And to make things even more exciting, they announced on Valentine's Day that they are expecting their second child together with this highly-publicized photoshoot.
But despite the big move and step down, the couple still weren't content with their roles in the British monarchy...
So, last month, they announced that they would officially not be returning as working members of the royal family.
A statement from Buckingham Palace said the royals were "saddened by their decision" but that Harry and Meghan "remain much-loved members of the family."
"Following conversations with The Duke, The Queen has written confirming that in stepping away from the work of The Royal Family it is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service," the statement read.
"The honorary military appointments and Royal patronages held by The Duke and Duchess will therefore be returned to Her Majesty, before being redistributed among working members of The Royal Family."
Predictably, the announcement triggered a media storm...
I'm a Commonwealth citizen - old enough to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh awards & wave a Union Jack. I'm young enough to see my country become a Republic. Meghan & Harry look like the Commonwealth. They are young, vibrant. This is the Royal Family's loss.— Ceci (@cecijande) February 19, 2021
And among all of the love and support came the negativity and surges of criticism.
In the weeks following their dramatic departure, the couple remained relatively under the radar...
Until Harry took part in a widely televised interview with friend and host, James Corden.
The royal appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden in his first public interview since stepping down to chat about his new life in L.A.
He was interviewed by Corden on an open-top tour bus - all while drinking tea, of course - as he opened up about what life has been like for him, Meghan, and Archie in the last year.
Here, Harry also revealed - for the first time - the reason he and Meghan stepped away from the royal family.
When asked, "what made you walk away from the royal family?", Harry politely corrected him by saying, "I didn't walk away."
"It was stepping back rather than stepping down. It was a really difficult environment that I think a lot of people saw... we all know what the British press can be like! And it was destroying my mental health, I was like 'this is toxic!'"
"I did what any husband and father would do."
"I needed to get my family out of there!" he then said.
"But we never walked away. And as far as I'm concerned whatever decisions are made on that side, I will never walk away. I will always be contributing but my life is public service, so wherever I am in the world it's going to be the same thing."
"My life is always going to be about public service and Meghan signed up for that."
"The 2 of us enjoy doing that and trying to bring compassion and try to make people happy, and try to change the world in any small way we can," he explained.
Following this groundbreaking interview, it was then announced that the couple had sat with their friend and broadcasting giant, Oprah Winfrey, for a tell-all interview.
Oprah With Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special will air on Sunday, March 7 at 8 P.M. EST on CBS. pic.twitter.com/XEa7GZ1hVA— Duchess Meg (@duchessmegfan) February 15, 2021
The highly-anticipated interview is set to air this weekend on March 7th on CBS.
And in typical Oprah fashion, small snippets of the 2-hour long interview have been teased in the last week...
Which has been driving royalists and fans of the couple crazy.
The first couple of teasers showed Meghan talking candidly to Oprah about her experience with the royal family...
And how she isn't afraid of the consequences of speaking out against the palace.
Meghan is seen saying:
"I don't know how they could expect that after all of this time we would still just be silent if there is an active role that The Firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us. And if that comes with the risk of losing things, I mean - there's a lot that has been lost already."
Of course, we won't get to hear the full story until Sunday...
So these non-stop teaser trailers will just have to do for now!
And the most recent clip of Meghan, which was released just a few days ago, has certainly gotten people talking...
Because it shows Meghan suggesting the royal family had total control of her.
And ladies and gentlemen this is how you excuse the abusers and blame the victims 👏👏👏 . Congratulations girl. Harassment is totally normal, especially when it was with the help of the palace.— mimi mimi (@EtheralMimi) March 5, 2021
Shame on the Royal family. They are launching a probe to see if Megan bullied anyone? Why are they not launching a probe to see how Meghan was bullied and driven out.— Patrice Loge (@LogePatrice) March 5, 2021
It’s great to hear Meghan in her own words. She looks relieved.— THRIVE ON PURPOSE #114 (@freepeeper) March 5, 2021
Free speech and the royal family have quite rightly never gone together. You couldn’t have an institution have everyone speak their own mind it wouldn’t work they all have to be speaking from the same hymn sheet as it were.— Shelby💙 (@Gizmo191) March 5, 2021
Being from the UK, I often think the Royals are out of touch with rules and privacy. I thought Harry and Meghan would be far enough down the list that they would have had more freedom. but wonder if this was Meghans plan all along though. The media are equally to blame.— FieldsOnYoutube (@fieldsonyoutube) March 5, 2021
I am so happy they are free from that institution. That one should be grateful to be treated like crap for a tiara is insane. The BRF are firmly stuck 300 years ago. They wanted credit for appearing modern with Meghan, but changed nothing behind the scenes.— Eliza is sheltering in place (@ElizaSussex) March 5, 2021
I really can’t believe people will stand behind the British press and their lies. All H&M wanted was support. They didn’t get that. Your family is supposed to stand behind you. After what they did to Diana, the RF could have supported H&M instead!— Kadiyah Lodge, M.S. (@kadiyahlodge) March 5, 2021
Now I truly understand the title of the book 'finding FREEDOM'. Being a member of that family is truly like being in prison.— Jooniebug😇 (@JooniebugVinta1) March 5, 2021
In the nearly 2-minute long clip, Oprah is asking Meghan about the time she requested to interview her before the royal wedding...
To which Meghan declined at the time.
"You said, 'I'm sorry, it's not the right time'. And finally, we get to sit down and have this conversation," Oprah says as Meghan laughs.
"I wasn't even allowed to have that conversation with you personally, right? There had to be people from the comm., sitting there," Meghan replies.
Oprah then confirms that during the interview snub back in 2018, there were people in the room with Meghan telling her to decline and say she will take part at "the right time."
"What is right about this time?" Oprah asks.
The Duchess then says:
"Well, so many things! We have the ability to make our own choices in a way that I couldn't have said yes to you then. That wasn't my choice to make. As an adult who lived a really independent life to then go into this construct, that is different to what I think people would imagine it to be."

It's pretty fascinating to say the least.
Meghan's former co-star spoke out about the Royals.
Suits star, Patrick J. Adams leapt to Meghan's defence and slammed the Royal Family.
Adams tweeted numerous times about the 'obscene' Royal Family

From day one she was an enthusiastic, kind, cooperative, giving, joyful and supportive member of our television family. "She has always been a powerful woman with a deep sense of morality and a fierce work ethic and has never been afraid to speak up, be heard and defend herself and those she holds dear. Like the rest of the world, I have watched her navigate the last few years in astonishment."
She fell in love, moved to a new country, became a household name across the entire globe and began the difficult work of trying to find her place in a family dynamic that can at best be described as complicated and at worst, seemingly archaic and toxic.— Patrick J Adams (@halfadams) March 5, 2021

"It sickened me to read the endless racist, slanderous, clickbaiting vitriol spewed in her direction from all manner of media across the UK and the world but I also knew that Meghan was stronger than people realized or understood and they would regret underestimating her."
And then they welcomed Archie. And on any sort of decent planet that would be a time to stop sharpening the knives and let these two people enjoy the magical early months and years of starting a family. But we don’t live on that planet and instead the hunt continued.— Patrick J Adams (@halfadams) March 5, 2021

"It's OBSCENE that the Royal Family, who's newest member is currently GROWING INSIDE OF HER, is promoting and amplifying accusations of "bullying" against a woman who herself was basically forced to flea the UK in order protect her family and her own mental health."

IMO, this newest chapter and it's timing is just another stunning example of the shamelessness of a institution that has outlived its relevance, is way overdrawn on credibility and apparently bankrupt of decency.

He really didn't hold back...
And he's not the only one.
This is ludicrous, they've got so used to playing their cancel culture games they think they can make the queen apologise.https://t.co/VO1aklpgEg— Frances Smith (@francessmith) March 6, 2021
With countless other celebrities also condemning the Royal Family for their treatment of Meghan Markle.
And many are demanding the Queen herself apologises for the behaviour Meghan was subject to.
Whoopi Goldberg has asked the Queen to apologise for backing the bullying claims against Meghan Markle.— Rob Boyd, Esq. (@AvonandsomerRob) March 6, 2021
I don’t think she realises how low on the pecking order she is compared to the Queen?
The View co-anchor Sunny Hostin was one of many who argued the Queen should apologise, saying: "I'm just surprised that they haven't tried to even apologise for not protecting her more, and instead do this.
"It says a lot, I think, about the workings of the Royal Family."
And many others agree!
Now, just before the interview finally airs...
The Queen herself has addressed the nation - and many believe her comments were related to the whole scandal.
The Queen has called for 'friendship and unity'.
Not sure Americans truly grasp the power behind the Queen of England. She not Kim Kardashian or Donald Trump. She is more than likely one of the most powerful people in the World. Scary Hours 3 about to hit.— BigFinTechEnergy🚀 (@KJFocused) March 7, 2021
More specifically she said:
Over the coming week as we celebrate the friendship, spirit of unity and achievements of the Commonwealth, we have an opportunity to reflect on a time like no other.
"Whilst experiences of the last year have been different across the Commonwealth, stirring examples of courage, commitment and selfless dedication to duty have been demonstrated in every Commonwealth nation and territory, notably by those working on the front line, who have been delivering health care and other public services in their communities."
Call me crazy, but I'd rather watch Meghan, Harry, and Oprah.— 🏳️🌈b mcarthur (he,him) (@bmcarthur17) March 7, 2021
We have also taken encouragement from remarkable advances in developing new vaccines and treatments.
"The testing times experienced by so many have led to a deeper appreciation of the mutual support and spiritual sustenance we enjoy by being connected to others."
Her message went on, however the main focus of it was friends, family, and unity...
So now I guess we just have to wait and see what the message Harry and Meghan will give is.
We're fairly certain it will be more of the same.
