Rapper, Lil Tjay, has been shot and is undergoing emergency surgery for his injuries.
Lil Tjay was reportedly shot multiple times along with another man, who was also injured in the crossfire.
According to officials, the shooting took place following an attempted armed robbery on Wednesday, just past midnight in New Jersey.
As per the news release, the “Edgewater Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired” at roughly 12:08 a.m. and found 21-year-old Lil Tjay with multiple gunshot wounds outside a Chipotle restaurant in Edgewater.
They also found 22-year-old “Antoine Boyd with a single gunshot wound” a mile away from the restaurant at a gas station, both were rushed to the hospital.
Police have since announced that Mohamed Konate, 27, “attempted to commit armed robbery” against Lil Tjay, Jeffrey Valdez, 24, and Boyd when shots were fired.
Konate was later arrested on “three counts of first-degree attempted murder, three counts of first-degree armed robbery,” and 3 weapons charges, as well as assault.
Valdez and Boyd, who were there with Tjay, were also “found to each be in possession of an unlawful weapon.”
According to TMZ Lil Tjay is undergoing emergency surgery to treat his injuries.
After the news went public, fellow rapper, French Montana tweeted: “pray for my lil bro lil Tjay.”
Lil Tjay rose to fame back in 2018 with the song ‘Resume’ and now over 17 million fans stream his music on Spotify.
His hit tracks ‘Calling My Phone’ and ‘In My Head’ are some of his most-listened-to songs. He even hit No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with Polo G’s song “Pop Out,” in which he was featured.
He is reportedly in a stable condition.
