A Reddit user was shocked to find out her Secret Santa was none other than multi-millionaire, Bill Gates. And the gifts he got her were nothing short of spectacular...
Secret Santa is supposed to be a fun way of spreading Christmas cheer.
via: ShutterstockThe concept usually involves a group of people – work colleagues or friends – putting their names into a hat, and picking one out at random.
The rules are quite simple.
via: ShutterstockOnce you’ve picked a name from the hat, you then have to buy that certain person a gift, all while never disclosing who got who which present.
Wishlists are usually made...
via: ShutterstockIn order to make it easier to shop for someone who you would never usually shop for, obviously.
And a budget is usually set...
via: ShutterstockSo people don’t go too mad with the spending, a price budget of between $15-$20 per present is usually given to the Secret Santas.
But what happens when your secret turns out to be someone who doesn't need to have a budget?
via: ShutterstockWell, recently one Reddit user got the surprise of a lifetime when she found out her Secret Santa was none other than multi-millionaire, Bill Gates.
Now, we all know Bill Gates is a pretty successful man.
via: GettyHe doesn't have the shabbiest of resumes; he is the co-founder of Microsoft, and is now one of the richest men in the world, with his net worth coming in at around $100 billion dollars.
Microsoft has grown to become one of the largest tech companies in the world.
via: GettyThe company wrote and developed one of the most-used computer software in the world. According to Forbes, Microsoft is the third biggest company in the world, with an estimated worth of $947 billion dollars.
Not bad for a college dropout...Yep, the business mogul never actually graduated. He initially left Seattle and enrolled at Harvard University in the fall of 1973, aiming for a career in law after pressure from his parents. However, Gates would spend more time in the computer lab than he would in class, and he rarely studied for his exams.
He dropped out of college in 1975.
via: GettyCollege life isn't for everyone. A mere 2 years after enrolling, Gates left Harvard and re-joined his partner, Paul Allen, whom he had started a small computer company with when he was just fifteen. Beats what I was doing when I was fifteen...
Cue the birth of Microsoft.
via: CNNFast forward a couple of years and the pair had created their company, Microsoft. The name Microsoft came from a blend of the words "microcomputer" and "software," and was officially launched in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1976.
And he grew it into the Microsoft that we all know and love today.
via: ShutterstockMicrosoft Office was launched in 1989, which included a number of programs designed to be used, well... in an office. Obviously. Word processors, spreadsheets, mail programs, and presentation systems were all included in the Office package.
It seems that Gates has experienced nothing but success with Microsoft.
via: ShutterstockThe fact that he's one of the world's richest men alone tells you everything you need to know, doesn't it?
So imagine getting him for something like Secret Santa?
via: ShutterstockYou'd expect your gifts to be pretty exceptional, right? Well, Megan Cummins was in for a treat. Keep scrolling to find out exactly what she got...
Upon finding out the big secret, people couldn't help but comment on how awesome the entire situation was...
So now it's time for the big reveal...
via: YouTubeMegan Cummins, AKA VietteLLC on Reddit, posted her special gift onto YouTube, saying that she "loved" it all.
She said this:
via: YouTube“I’ve done the Reddit gift exchange for years now, “ she wrote in a post describing the experience. “I love all the silly little gifts. I always check out the Bill Gates post and laugh at how crazy it must have been for that person, never for a second even considering it a possibility for me."
She described the delivery as a box bigger than a "fridge."
via: YouTube“I could fit about 5 of me in the box I got," wrote Megan. “I did, in fact, stare awkwardly at the FedEx guy — I was so far beyond confused."
The massive box was packed with cute gifts...
via: YouTubeIncluding a thirty-pound stuffed Pusheen (a popular cartoon cat used in Facebook sticker sets), $750 in donations to her 3 favorite animal shelters, a Stormy stuffed animal (Pusheen’s sister), Dr. Who items, a Dave Matthews band shirt, books, a snow globe, and a sweet cross-stitch of herself, Bill Gates and their cats!
There was also a lovely, note that read:
via: YouTube“I hope you didn’t mind I crashed your family portrait."
She also said this:
via: YouTube“I started to burst out loud laughing and crying simultaneously," wrote Megan. “I was a cliché."
She also explained that the best part of the experience was receiving gifts from a famous billionaire.
via: Getty“[I love] knowing that at some point during my work week Bill Gates was somewhere having a professional photo taken with a jumbo Pusheen and writing me notes about cats." So do we. Or maybe Bill Gates just happens to have a million thirty pound Pusheens sitting around his house. Maybe that's just how he rolls."
