‘Rick and Morty’ Season 4 Return Date Confirmed

It’s been 2 long years since Rick and Morty was last on our screens and fans have been eager to fill the intergalactic adventure-sized hole in their lives.  For those unfamiliar, the 30-minute animated show is a little bit like a cross between Back to the Future and a David Cronenberg movie, with a lot of dark humor thrown in for good measure… and it’s proved pretty popular with viewers.

Our prayers were answered late year when season 4 of the dark comedy premiered in November. Though disappointingly, we were only in for a 5 episode stint, they went down a treat.

After months of waiting, the date for the last 5 episodes of the season has finally been announced. Read on to find out when you should mark your calendars…

It had been a while since we’ve last had our Rick and Morty fix.

Remember when the smash-hit sci-fi animation wrapped up its third season back in 2017? It left a weighty mad-scientist shaped void in our lives.

The show follows the intergalactic antics of an eccentric (and alcoholic) mad scientist, Rick, and his every-so-anxious grandson, Morty.

Much to Beth’s husband’s disapproval, Rick moves into the family home – and soon after embarks on ridiculous sci-fi adventures through time and space with his fourteen-year-old grandson, all while trying to balance conventional life.

From parasite infestations and to battling a weird rendition of Freddie Krueger to pickle Rick and of course, Mr. Meeseeks, the show hasn’t fallen short of  “what the hell” moments – but that’s why we all love it so much.

Praised by both fans and critics across the world, it comes as no surprise that the demand for a fourth season has been off the scale.

Rick and Morty has been hailed as one of the funniest and ingenious shows on TV right now, which many put down to the perfect blend of mind-bogglingly iconic plotlines and its unique ability to fuse together moments of tragedy and sheer hilarity.

And with each of the season proving equally as popular, it comes as no surprise that fans quickly demanded a fourth installment.

There was a solid 3-year gap between seasons 1 and 2, but only a 1.5-year gap between the next 2 seasons.

Well, you’ll be pleased to know the new, 5 episodes look like they are going to be packed full of even more bonkers antics and “what the hell” moments as its predecessors.

The announcement came from a video Adult Swim put on their YouTube channel, which featured both Rick and Morty awkwardly announcing the new season.

Great job, Morty. You really nailed that announcement.

Because between the Szechuan sauce and yelling at people on the internet, Rick and Morty fans can be a little intense.

Having Kanye West hanging out with the eccentric Morty sounds like a recipe for some of the funniest episodes of the series, but this isn’t exactly concrete proof that Kanye will appear on the show.

In usual Rick and Morty style, the pair appear to get caught up in even more mayhem. During the long-awaited trailer, we see Morty narrowly escape laser-blasting attackers, fall from a sheer cliff, get involved in some kind of altercation with a dragon and turn into a vicious monster.

It was initially reported that all the fresh intergalactic content will be packed into a 5-episode run instead of the usual 10… Or so we thought.

But we now know the producers were trolling us because there was another 5 episodes coming up.

Well, we got you. Recently, a video teaser was posted to the Adult Swim Instagram that had us all reeling in excitement.

As expected, the episodes will be packed full of weird and wonderful fun including what looks to be a battle of some sort with extraterrestrial beings? We’re totally here for it!

So there you have it, ladies and gentlemen…

Keep your eyes peeled for the official drop but while you’re waiting, check out what else you could be watching to pass some time.
