There’s a lot of pressure on new parents, especially those in the public eye, to put on a performance when they announce they’re pregnant.
And with baby showers and gender reveal parties becoming increasingly more popular, it’s almost more unusual for people to chose not to have one.
But no one should be forced to feel as though they should go through with something they’re not comfortable with, and Rihanna has recently shared that she felt bad for not wanting a gender reveal party.
Now, Rihanna isn’t the most traditional new mom, and we love her for it! But this also means she isn’t one for doing things by the book, and that means she won’t be sharing the gender of her baby with her fans… at least not yet.
However, in a recent interview with Vogue, the singer explained she felt like a “bad mom” for not wanting one.
She even admitted she wasn’t 100% sure she even wanted a baby shower. “No brunch, no blush tones. And no animal-shaped nothing,” she said.
“I mean it’s lit for a lot of people — I’ve even planned a couple of baby showers like that myself — it’s just not right for me,” she shared.
Adding: “Personally, I want a party. I want everyone to be plastered and crawling out. And it’s got to be co-ed!”
But it looks like the fact she doesn’t want a gender reveal party has weighed on her mind: “I asked my doctor: ‘Is something wrong with me for not wanting this? Because people keep asking me. Am I a bad mom?'” she said.
Although they don’t want to announce the gender of their baby just yet, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky do know what they’ll be having.
“When we’re ready to tell the world, we’ll just tell them,” she said.
And if that wasn’t enough pressure, some fans have recently blasted her over a video she posted on Instagram.
In the clip, she can be seen applying her Fenty Cookies N Clean face mask before taking a sip of what appears to be champagne.
She captioned the video: “and that’s on self care bih.”
But it wasn’t long before fans took to the comments to give their opinions on her “drinking alcohol” while heavily pregnant.
“Alcohol isn’t good for the baby,” read one comment. While a second asked: “Drinking while heavily pregnant?”
A third fan warned: “ur pregnant girl don’t drink alcohol.”
However, it didn’t take long for other viewers to come to her defense…
“So that means it’s always alcohol? it’s a GLASS which is used for drinks. Doesn’t have to be alcohol,” commented one fan.
“Knew I was gonna see a comment like this as soon as I seen her take a sip. Lol,” a second scoffed.
And after analyzing the video, fans pointed out she wasn’t drinking alcohol at all.
“Look at the bottle before you judge maybe!?” wrote one, before another added: “It’s literally ginger ale relax.”
“Ginger ale but go on,” a third wrote.
Yep, after all that shade, it turns out Rihanna was actually pouring Ginger Ale into her champagne glass.

The latest news is that Rihanna has reportedly given birth.
And it seems that her ex, Chris Brown, has sent her a message following the apparent birth.
Taking to Instagram, Brown wrote: “Congratulations.”
Alongside the message, Brown used a pregnant woman emoji as well as a praying hands emoji.
People are saying the message is a ‘slap in the face’ to Rihanna.
Others, however, have said that Brown would have been slammed if he hadn’t wished her congratulations also…
As we all know by now, Rihanna and Brown dated for many years, with the singer charged with assault and making criminal threats after he attacked her before she was set to perform at the 2009 Grammy Awards.
