Rihanna is yet again an absolute girl boss as she has been given an official title after Barbados cut ties with Queen Elizabeth II.
But first, let’s see exactly why Barbados has cut the queen out.
Late on Monday, the Caribbean nation broke its remaining connection with the United Kingdom by removing Queen Elizabeth II as Head of State.
And it comes as an oh mighty shock as it’s been an entire 396 years since Barbados became a part of the British Empire.
Fifty-five years ago as of Monday, Barbados became a country of Independence, keeping the Queen in their circle, however.
But now, it looks as though they wanted to get rid of any past linked to colonialism, and so, became a new republic, swearing-in female President Sandra Mason, and cutting its ties with all British rule.
In the 17th century there was a lot of turmoil for Barbados because of the British.
Being turned into a colony, with the British using hundreds of thousands of people brought from Africa as ‘laborers’.
And, having the Royal family remain in their ceremonial circle only reminded them of the atrocity they once had to go through, cutting ties, once and for all, with Queen Elizabeth II as their head of state.
It’s a remarkable point in history as Barbados is finally free from its colonized past almost 400 years later on after British boats arrived at the island.
Prince Charles himself, the Queen’s son, attended the ceremony, saying that the removal of his mother: “Offers a new beginning,” according to NBC News, who also reported that the Queen offered her “warmest good wishes.”
And someone else, special to many people around the world, made it to the ceremony, too.
Barbadian singer Rihanna.
But, she wasn’t just invited to watch the ceremony, she was a part of it, being offered her very own title.
Keep reading to find out exactly what that title is.
Now, Rihanna is an absolute hero to many, and an icon to most…
Becoming the world’s richest female musician on the planet.
The unique fusion of reggae and R&B vibes became the perfect combination for Rihanna’s dance tracks and her first full album, Music of the Sun, was released soon after.
Her career in music only got more successful with the release of one of her most popular albums, Good Girl Gone Bad.
In 2007, Rihanna’s image underwent a drastic change. She ditched her Caribbean vibes for a more rebellious one, chopping off her long hair and sporting a spiky pixie cut instead.
It became her signature look during the promotion of the album, which featured big-name stars such as Justin Timberlake.
After her most recent album, Anti (2016), was released, she decided to take a break from her music career.
Anti did extremely well, ranking at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart. It featured some of her most popular songs like “Kiss It Better” and who could ever forget “Work,” featuring Drake?
We’re still replaying that song as much as we did when it first came out!
She then took on the cosmetic industry.
I’m going to say it: Fenty Beauty is probably one of the best things to ever happen to the industry. In 2017, Rihanna really changed the game with her products, from her range of foundations all the way down to her iconic gloss bomb.
When Fenty Beauty first launched, it racked up an amazing one hundred million dollars in its first week!
Most of the products sold out immediately and the buzz around the company hasn’t died since. Rihanna also announced on her Instagram that there is even more to come. I can’t help but get excited!
According to Forbes, all of her efforts add up to an outstanding 600 million dollar fortune, making her the richest female musician in the world right now.
Rihanna beat the likes of Madonna (570 million) and even Queen B, Beyoncé (400 million).
Well, at the rate she’s going, there’s nothing that can stop her.
And now, she’s leaving her mark in a whole other way…
By receiving her very own title from Prime Minister Mia Mottley during the event she attended to celebrate the parting of a colonial past.
Donning an absolutely gorgeous orange silk maxi dress, RiRi was definitely ready to be given a title she deserves.
Many wondered what the title could be…
If you don’t already know, Rihanna actually already holds a title in Barbados, and she’s held it since 2018.
She’s an Ambassador for Culture and Youth for the Island.
But, this particular title had people flooding her with congratulations.
And she deserved every single bit of love she recieved.
Being honored as the country’s 11th National Hero, Ambassador Robyn Rihanna Fenty.
“On behalf of a grateful nation, but an even prouder people, we, therefore, present to you the designee for national hero for Barbados, ambassador Robyn Rihanna Fenty. May you continue to shine like a diamond and bring honor to your nation by your works, by your actions,” said the Prime Minister, as per Sky News.
We love you Rih!
