Sophie, Countess of Wessex, recently questioned whether people know who Oprah Winfrey is or not and it backfired massively.

Because seriously, who doesn't know who Oprah is?

The royal, who is married to Prince Edward, was speaking to The Telegraph about the late Duke of Edinburgh when she brought up the world-famous chat show host.

"You know, if you're not into chat shows, there's no reason why you should know who she [Oprah] is – certainly not in this country anyway."

The comments come after Oprah interviewed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in March following their decision to step back as working royals.

The explosive interview saw the couple make some shocking claims, including alleged "concerns and conversations about how dark [Archie's] skin might be when he's born" by senior royals and how badly Meghan was treated when she was feeling suicidal.

Harry also opened up about how his family has "financially cut him off" and how Prince Charles "won't return my calls."

It's led many to believe the royal family is desperately trying to brush the drama related to Harry, Meghan, and their interview with Oprah under the carpet...

And the Countesses' rather sour comment about the talk show host - quite predictably - triggered an angry response on Twitter.

People seemed to be offended over the fact that the royal shunned a "global superstar"...

And that simply, the Countess is just "flat wrong."

Many pointed out that the Countess herself isn't well known either...

And the "knife cuts both ways."

What do you think about the Countesses' comments about Oprah?

Do you think it was rude and condecending? Or do you think she just made a simple mistake and didn't mean to offend?
