Man's Wife Reveals She Took Dog To the Pound After He Spent 5 Years of Mourning His 'Runaway' Dog | 22 Words

Dogs are way too good for this world, they give us so much love and sadly some get little in return, in fact, thousands of dogs are abandoned every day.

But one story of a dog's trip to the pound has truly shaken the internet this week ...

Is there anything better than a dog?

These adorable creatures are basically the best things on earth. If you’re ever feeling down in the dumps, a dog is guaranteed to make you feel better.

They are truly man's best pals.

Whether they’re causing mischief, giving us those puppy eyes when they want a treat, or taking up the entire sofa, many of us couldn’t live without our furry friends.

Once you become a dog-parent, there's no going back...

It’s hard to imagine a life without having a pooch to come home to.

In an age where the internet is so divided, there's one thing we can all agree on...

How utterly amazing (and adorable) our 4-legged friends are.

Sadly, so many pooches are lost, abandoned or dumped - being left to fend for themselves.

Though there is some light at end of the tunnel for many of these doggos - who end up getting rescued and eventually adopted into new families.

Many animal shelters are simply overflowing...

And, according to statistics from the Humane Society, 6 to 8 million cats and dogs enter shelters here in the U.S. each year.

But these animal shelters aren't always the safest places for these animals.

Millions of these animals are euthanized every year due to the lack of space and people interested in adopting.

It's a devastating reality of animal homelessness.

And statistics show that, out of the 3 million cats and dogs euthanized in shelters every year, around 2.4 million are actually healthy, and would have been fit for adoption with a new owner.

It's unthinkable why anyone would be so cruel to an animal.

So many dogs are abused, abandoned, and neglected.

But there's one dog story that's made headlines this week.

The internet cannot believe this bizarre story!

The shocking post comes from the subreddit "Am I The A**hole."

"I had a dog when my wife and I got married. I loved her, she was my buddy."

"When my wife got pregnant, she became increasingly paranoid that the dog would be a danger to the baby."

"She brought up rehoming, and I refused. She was an "aggressive breed," but she was trained."

"One day, she called me crying at work that the dog ran away and she couldn't run after her. I believed her. I looked for that dog for weeks."

"Finally just accepted it because we had to go to the hospital to welcome our child and there were just other pressing concerns."

"It's been 5 years since then, and we now have 3 children. I've wanted to get a new dog, but the kids take a lot of energy and time. My wife has always had a new excuse not to get another dog."

"I found out recently that my dog didn't run away, my wife and her father took the dog to the pound while I was at work because her parents agreed with her about the dog being 'dangerous.'"

"I'm FURIOUS. She was MY dog, my BABY."

"She wasn't dangerous. I would never have agreed to that. She probably never got adopted. I'm honestly mad enough to consider a separation if not for the kids and practical reasons."

"I've told her that the only way to make it up even a little bit is for us to get a dog."

"She ultimately doesn't want a dog at all, and complained that she would have to do too much with it. I'm not planning to let up on this one this time."

What do you think of this crazy story?

And most importantly - who is the a**hole?
