The San Francisco Giants are set to become the first-ever Major League Baseball team to play in pride-themed uniforms...

And the uniform change has certainly divided opinion online.

Here's the full story...

Now, since the birth of Gay Pride in 1969, millions have marched for gay rights...

And the movement is showing no signs of slowing down today.

We've come a long way...

Because here in the States, the LGBTQ+ community is bigger and prouder than ever before.

In Congress, we now have a number of openly-gay and trans congressmen and women...

And, in 2015, the Supreme Court ruled same-sex marriage as a legal right across the country.

Obviously, this was a landmark moment in the community's fight for equality.

Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote that the plaintiffs asked "for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right."

Fast forward 6 years, and the community is thriving...

So much so, that it is bigger than ever before.

Right now, we're living through the 2021 pride month...

And millions of people all around the world have been celebrating and paying tribute to this incredible community.

Including the San Fransico Giants!

The Major League Baseball team has actually made a groundbreaking announcement this week to commemorate Pride month.

But it's certainly divided opinion online...

With many praising the decision and feeling it is a kind and inclusive step forward for the LGBTQ+ community.

But many others aren't so impressed and feel that politics should be left out of sports.

The SF Giants will be debuting new uniforms in aid of pride month when they take the field on Saturday against the Chicago Cubs.

The team's on-field caps will feature the "SF" logo with colors depicting the Progress Pride Flag, while each jersey will have a patch on the right sleeve featuring the design.

This will make the team the first-ever in MLB history to wear a uniform dedicated to such a cause.

Manager Gabe Kapler told The Associated Press on Tuesday that he's "very proud that the San Francisco Giants are taking this step."

Very proud to be part of it," Kapler continued, "Looking forward to the impact and the support that we can provide for the LGBTQ+ community."

As the Giants noted in a statement:

"The eleven colors of the new Pride logo are emblematic of the Progress Pride Flag and signify inclusion and progression with the six pride colors – red (life); orange (healing); yellow (sunlight); green (nature); blue (serenity); purple (spirit); and black and brown to recognize LGBTQ+ people of color and light blue, pink and white to recognize people who are transgender."

We can't wait to see the uniforms for ourselves tomorrow!
