Last year, the murder of Samuel Paty shocked Paris - but now more horrifying details have come out ...
Samuel Paty was a history and geography teacher in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, in the west of Paris.
But he faced huge trouble last year after a claim of blasphemy against Islam.
Claims surfaced that Paty has shown his class a naked image of the prophet Mohammed.
This is, understandably, hugely problematic for Muslims.
Legal complaints and a hate campaign against Paty followed.
Paty was on the receiving end of multiple death threats.
But then tragedy struck.
Paty was killed by an 18-year-old Abdullakh Anzorov 10 days after the allegations.
But as if this wasn't tragic enough ...
It's now been revealed that the said incident never actually took place at all.
The 13-year-old school girl who made the accusation has admitted she made it all up.
She revealed she'd lied to please her father - and people are deeply concerned.
The teenager's lawyer Mbeko Tabula confirmed she wasn't even in Paty's class.
And was even off sick on the day in question.
"She lied because she felt trapped in a spiral because her classmates had asked her to be a spokesperson," he said.
"She would not have dared to confess to her father the real reasons for her exclusion shortly before the tragedy, which was in fact linked to her bad behavior."
The girl has been charged with slander, while her father has been arrested for complicity in a terrorist killing.
RIP to Samuel Paty.
