Scooby-Doo is a franchise that is close to lots of people’s hearts.

Ever since the TV series debuted in 1969, kids and adults alike have loved watching the gang of 5 on their crazy adventures.
Fans of the show have long speculated that Velma is into women.

However, these suspicions had never come to fruition on screen.
Even Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn had opinions on the matter.

Shown here on the left, Gunn wrote the screenplay for the early-2000s live-action movies Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.
As per TMZ, Gunn said he wanted to make Velma “explicitly gay”.

“I tried,” he said.
“The studio just kept watering it down,” he added.

Linda Cardellini played the role of the iconic orange turtleneck wearer in the movies written by Gunn.
Gunn continued to say that, in the end, the sequel movie showed the character having a boyfriend.

However, that’s not the case for the latest turn for the Scooby series…
Warner Bros. has released a new film entitled Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! just in time for Halloween.

And it has some exciting news for Velma fans!
TMZ reports that a new clip from the movie shows Velma in total adoration of another woman.

The lady in question is Coco Diablo, a costume designer.
In the clip, you can see Velma’s glasses get all steamed up as romantic music begins to play in the background.

And of course, in the midst of all the excitement, she says her legendary line: “Jinkies!”
Fans took to social media to react to Velma’s lesbian identity.

One person said: “Folks are gonna be upset about this. And I’m here for it.”
Another wrote: “That has been a known fact since 1969.”
