What Selena Gomez REALLY Whispered To Taylor Swift At The Golden Globes

When celebrities make their way to awards shows, they already know just how many eyes are on them at all times.

Still, a lot of stars forget about the cameras when they’re surrounded by their friends, sharing intimate moments that end up getting caught on camera.

That’s exactly what happened when Selena Gomez spotted her longtime BFF, Taylor Swift, at the Golden Globes on Sunday.

Taylor and Selena’s unbreakable bond

Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez have been friends for more than a decade.

The pair were first spotted together in 2008, when they went out for dinner with Joe and Nick Jonas, whom they were respectively dating at the time.

“We actually dated the Jonas Brothers together! It was hysterical,” Gomez told KISS FM UK in 2017. 

“It was amazing, because [Taylor] was the girl with the big curly hair and all the bracelets and the cowboy boots. And I was definitely up-and-coming, and we just clicked,” Gomez said at the time.

The Wizards of Waverly Place star went on to joke:  “It was the best thing we got out of those relationships.”

In 2009, Gomez revealed that Swift is the one she always turns to for love advice.

“Every single problem I ever have is healable by Taylor Swift,” she said in an interview with Seventeen.

Fast forward to 2020, and in Gomez’s cover story with WSJ. Magazine, both stars opened up about their decade-long friendship. 

They’re not just best friends, they’re sisters…

“There has always been this quality of sisterhood, and I don’t say that in a basic way,” Swift said of Gomez. 

“I knew from when I met her I would always have her back,” she continued. “In my life, I have the ability to forgive people who have hurt me. But I don’t know if I can forgive someone who hurts her.”

Gomez went on to add that their friendship has gotten stronger as they’ve been there for each other for tough moments. 

“She has showed up for me in ways that I would have never expected,” Selena said of Taylor. “Flown in because I was hurt and was going through something. Stuff that was going on with my family.”

She continued, “It’s been proven year after year and in every moment of my life that she is one of my best friends in the world. We don’t agree on everything, but we respect each other with everything.”

Fast forward to current day, and their friendship was put on display during a special moment at the Golden Globes on Sunday.

The whisper that started it all

During a break in the action at the Globes, Selena could be seen crouching down at Taylor’s table as she whispered some big news to her.

Lip-readers across the internet started to analyze what Gomez was saying, with one video in particular accusing Kylie Jenner of starting some drama.

According to aforementioned lip-readers, Gomez told Swift that she asked Timotheé Chalamet for a picture and his girlfriend, Jenner, told her “no.”

With chatter surrounding the whisper at an all time high, Selena quickly set the record straight on what was really said during her gab sesh with Taylor.

The truth revealed…

According to the actress, what she whispered to her best friend has nothing to do with any of their fellow celebs.

Instead, Gomez insists that she was delivering some gossip about two of her friends who got together.

The Only Murders In The Building star revealed what she was actually talking about in the comments of an Instagram post from E! News.

 “Nooooo I told Taylor about two of my friends who hooked up,” Selena said. “Not that that’s anyone’s business.”

A source close to Selena also shut down the speculation in a statement to PEOPLE, insisting the swirling rumors are completely untrue.

The source said Gomez “was absolutely not referencing anything about Timothée or Kylie” and “never even saw or spoke to them.”

Welp, that handles that!
