Her Netflix documentary Not Just a Girl revealed more personal details than ever before.

But first, let’s take it back to the origins of the star…

Trust us when we say she’s lived quite the wild ride!

Born in Ontario, Canada back in 1965, the star had a tumultuous childhood.

She began singing in bars aged 8 to help earn the family more money.

Throughout her high school years, Twain continued to flourish musically.

But this came to a halt when her mom and stepdad died in a car accident in 1987.

Years after this was when Twain began to really make her way in the industry.

Her first self-titled album was released in 1993, and her second record The Woman in Me followed 2 years later.

But by far Twain’s biggest success was her third album.

The record was packed full of hits, and made Twain one of the first country singers to find international success.

Hits from the album include ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman’, ‘From This Moment On’ and ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’.

It’s tune after tune!

Following on from this album, Twain continued her streak of success.

Her fourth album Up! saw a similar amount of worldwide popularity.

So much so that Twain even performed at the Super Bowl!

She was the act for the XXXVII halftime show.

By 2004, Twain had enough hits to fill out her Greatest Hits album!

However, following on from this the star took a break from music…

This break coincided with a time of difficulty in Twain’s personal life.

Her son Eja was born in 2001, and she wanted to focus on raising him.

However, she also faced heartbreak as she divorced from Robert John “Mutt” Lange.

The star’s former husband reportedly had an affair with her former best friend, Marie-Anne Thiebaud.

However, that didn’t stop Twain being an icon for the ages.

So many stars have spoken about how Twain has influenced them…

Namely, Taylor Swift.

The ‘Blank Space’ singer has spoken about how Twain was the biggest influence in her own country to pop crossover.

Carrie Underwood also cites Twain as having a huge influence on her.

“I think we were all definitely influenced by Shania, even if we don’t realize it,” said the ‘Church Bells’ singer, calling it “so different and kind of revolutionary at the time”.

Even pop superstar Harry Styles owes it all to Twain…

In “both music and fashion”, Styles calls Twain his “main influence”, he told ET.

The star made her comeback to the charts in 2011, and even had a Vegas residency!

And, finally, she released her fifth studio album in 2017, titled Now.

This brings us up to now, with Twain’s next album due to come out next year.

And the star has opened up about her experience of posing for some rather risque shots at the age of fifty-seven.

“I was very insecure woman, girl … I was one of those teenagers that would never wear a bikini at the beach, for example,” she told Talk Shop Live.

“So I’m saying, well, the heck with that. I didn’t do it when I was younger, so I’m going to do it now. I’m going to feel and show that I feel comfortable in my own skin.”

“Trust me, this took courage because I am so not an exhibitionist. It was all about my own message to myself.

“Just saying, you know, it’s just time to feel comfortable in my own skin and share that with other people and just share those insecurities, shed that skin of insecurity,” Twain added.

The star explained that she was “taking responsibility for what I put out there, what I project”, because she is “less apologetic for how I am, how I look, [and] less affected by other people’s criticism.”
