Disturbing footage surfaced of a New Jersey father, Christopher Gregor, 31, forcing his six-year-old son Corey Micciolo to run on a treadmill because he deemed him ‘too fat.’ Tragically, this cruel act led to Corey’s untimely death due to chronic abuse.
In court, Gregor faced murder charges for his son’s demise, staring down the possibility of life behind bars if convicted.
The trial unfolded with surveillance footage from the Atlantic Heights Clubhouse fitness center, showcasing the harrowing scene of Corey repeatedly falling off the treadmill, only to be lifted back on by his father.
Shockingly, Gregor was observed biting the back of Corey’s head before compelling him to continue running, as reported by the NYP.
The treadmill’s rapid speed far exceeded the young boy’s ability to keep pace, resulting in him continuously tumbling off, only to bravely crawl back on.
Days following this traumatic gym session, Corey’s mother, Breanna Micciolo, noticed her son’s injuries and alerted authorities, setting off a chain of events that would lead to heartbreak.
Corey disclosed to a doctor that his father had subjected him to the treadmill ordeal due to concerns about his weight, as detailed by the U.S. Sun. Tragically, Corey passed away the next day.
Gregor rushed Corey to the hospital upon noticing concerning symptoms, including stumbling, slurred speech, and nausea, but medical efforts to save him were in vain.
Subsequent investigations revealed Corey’s cause of death as blunt force trauma, with signs of chronic abuse including injuries to his chest, abdomen, and vital organs.
Gregor’s arrest in July 2021 on child neglect charges came after authorities reviewed the damning gym footage, depicting the horrific abuse inflicted upon Corey.
Corey’s death was officially ruled a homicide in September 2021, underscoring the severity of the abuse he endured at the hands of his father.
Breanna Micciolo bravely took the stand during the trial, overcome with emotion as she bore witness to the disturbing video evidence.
In the wake of her son’s tragic passing, Breanna launched a Justice for Corey campaign on Facebook, rallying support for her cause and demanding accountability for Corey’s senseless death.
With tears in her eyes, she declared, “I created this group to fight for justice for my son, Corey Micciolo. He was only 6 years old when his life was taken from him, by someone who was supposed to care and love for him. His father.”
“We have an army here, and we will not stop fighting until justice is served.”
