Sinbad’s family has revealed that the star is still learning to walk in the first update since he suffered a stroke 2 years ago.
The comedian is still “fighting for every inch,” they said.
His family also revealed that the odds of survival for this kind of event is just thirty percent, but Sinbad has made “significant progress” despite there still being “miles to go.”

His original name is actually David Adkins, but Sinbad is the name he chose to go by on stage.
It came from an old Arabic character called Sinbad the Sailor, who the star admired.
Born in Michigan back in 1956, Sinbad had a long history of being a funny guy.
In fact, before he was a comedian professionally, he would still gig alongside his full-time job.
He even competed in the Air Force’s Talent Contest in 1981 with his performance!
He worked as a boom operator for the US Air Force at this time.
But Sinbad got his first big break in the stand-up industry on the talent show Star Search.
He made it all the way to the final round before losing out to fellow comedian John Kassir.
Sinbad then snagged a role in a spinoff of The Cosby Show.
He starred alongside Lisa Bonet in the show, titled A Different World.
But it was in the nineties that the star really rose to fame…
He even got his own show!
The Sinbad Show premiered in 1993 and ran for twenty-four episodes.
The story followed Sinbad as a bachelor who takes in 2 orphaned children.
Unfortunately, the show was canceled after just 1 season.
But it was far from the end for Sinbad’s comedy career…
His stand-up began to prosper, as he completed more and more specials.
Most notable was his 1995 show Sinbad: Afros and Bellbottoms, for which he won an NAACP Image Award.
This decade also saw his movie career blossom…
It was only natural for the comedian to begin making cameos!
He started off small with bit parts in flicks such as Coneheads.
But it was around the mid nineties that things really got into full swing…
He starred in 1995’s Houseguest…
As well as First Kid in 1996.
But one of his most famous movie roles has to be alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The pair both starred in the iconic Christmas movie Jingle All The Way.
His role in this movie won the hearts of many…
And even bagged the star another award for his supporting role in the cast!
He continued to enjoy a thriving acting and comedy career into the aughts.
Highlights from this next decade include Slacker Cats and even a guest appearance on Family Guy.
However, in 2020, Sinbad went through something life-changing.
The star had suffered a stroke, his family announced.
And now, 2 years later, more details have emerged.
It seems that Sinbad’s stroke affected him hugely.
In a statement put out by the family, it has been confirmed that the star suffered an ischemic stroke.
This was a result of a blood clot that had traveled from his heart to his brain.
After being rushed to hospital, doctors operated and things looked promising for the star.
However, the next day another clot formed, and doctors had to operate again.
During yet another surgery, doctors realized his brain had begun to swell.
They also found a bleed on the brain, and he ended up returning to the ICU in a medically induced coma.
The star’s family recalled how it was “weeks before would open his eyes, speak, or show signs of basic mobility.”
Soon, they also learned that he was unable to move the left side of his body, or even just hold his head up.
“The more time passed the more the family learned how much had been lost,” they wrote.
Finally in July 2021, Sinbad returned home after 9 months in care.
His family call the star’s progress “remarkable”, and that he’s “taking the steps necessary to learn to walk again.”
“I am not done. I will not stop fighting until I can walk across the stage again,” Sinbad said himself.
“Costs of therapy far exceed what insurance covers and it has taken its toll on the family financially,” they said.
