For a lot of parents, a kid's most common question is: "Mom, can I have a snack?" even after they've had dinner! So, to combat this little problem, an inventive mom decided to create a snack hack that keeps her kids fed and happy all day long.
This mom definitely isn't the only one who's a little bit fed up with being asked repeatedly for a snack, because a photo of the clever hack went viral and fellow parents loved it!
Jen Hallstrom took to Facebook to explain how she gives each of her children a colored basket each morning and in that basket, she puts a handful of snacks for the day. Once the children have eaten all their snacks, they aren't allowed anymore! So it's up to them how fast they eat them.
Even though some children may not take to this idea with patience by eating all their snacks before the day has even started, the idea helps children process whether they even want the snack or they are just eating because they're bored.
Jen also puts one cup in the basket because she doesn't want to wash "fifty cups a day! Hahaha!"
Other moms shared their thoughts with Jen:
"Love it!", "Great idea", and "So smart! Thank you for sharing," some wrote.
While one person wrote: "Good idea! We just have only ever had one snack time in the afternoon. They generally don't even bother asking. In some cases being the mean mom really helps save my sanity."
Another person even joked: "Nailed itttt!!! But the snacking problem at this house is cuz of me. So.... lmk when you find a solution to that!"
And another person wrote: "Love this! I HATE that I have let the kids fall into the habit of getting their own snacks throughout the day. Might give this a shot while I am at home!"
The hack racked up 283,000 likes and 403,000 shares! It's safe to say other moms will definitely be trying the hack at some point!
