Kobe Bryant made history on many occasions. His twenty-year career in the NBA saw him become the all-time leading scorer in Lakers history in 2010. At thirty-four years old, he also became the youngest player in league history to reach 30,000 career points. What an achievement.

However, in 2016, he retired...

After a string of injuries began taking their toll on his body, he decided it would be best to leave the game, though that didn't stop him from coaching and doing extra work on the side in order to aid the NBA.

But in January of this year, the world's heart was broken.

But tragically, his private helicopter went down and a "fire broke out," TMZ reported.

During a press conference, it was confirmed there were no survivors...

And there were 9 bodies found at the scene.

Bryant's daughter, Gianna, was also on board the helicopter at the time of the crash.

TMZ Sports reported that Gianna, aged thirteen, tragically died in the crash alongside her dad. It was thought that the father and daughter were on their way to the Mamba Academy for basketball practice, nearby Thousand Oaks.

It was utterly devastating news.

Kobe and Gigi left behind their wife/mom and their daughters/sisters - Natalia, Bianka, and their newborn, Capri.

The tragedy claimed the lives of 7 others...

All 9 of the passengers on board were confirmed to have died in the tragic crash.

Tributes quickly came flooding in, with Barack Obama reiterating that Kobe was a "legend."

The two had a strong friendship as Kobe was an active Obama supporter and they both shared similar views on social issues.

In a slightly less empathetic way, Donald Trump also tweeted this...

Melania also sent her condolences.

And Whoopi Goldberg also emphasized how much of a hero he was...

She wrote: "RIP Kobe, hero to many including my grandson, extraordinary athlete and always kind to me & my family. My deepest condolences to his family."

Viola Davis was also amongst those who paid tribute to Kobe...

Kobe's family had just been hit with the worst news they could possibly have. No goodbyes. No final words. Devastating.

A host of other sports personalities continued to send their condolences to the family...

Megan Rapinoe, a professional soccer player for the United States team tweeted about him.

And Usain Bolt too...

He attached a photograph of him and Kobe right before one of his races.

And as for Kobe's wife, Vanessa?

Well, there's absolutely no denying how broken she was to have lost both her husband and her daughter.

It has been 9 months since the tragedy...

And even though Kobe, GiGi, and all the other passengers have now been laid to rest... it doesn't get any easier.

The memorial service held for Kobe and GiGi at the Staples Center in February broke hearts all the world...

And still, to this very day, Kobe's legacy continues to be remembered and spoken about... especially amongst Los Angeles Lakers fans.

And that brings us back to today's story.

Rapper Snoop Dogg is known for being a huge Lakers fan and he has been very vocal about Kobe's death since the tragic accident.

Snoop has always commemorated Kobe through social media...

But now, he's taken things to another level by getting some permanent ink in order to keep Kobe's NBA legacy alive.

The rapper wanted to also commemorate the Lakers' 17th NBA title...

And the large forearm piece features the Lakers team logo right below the gates of heaven, the Larry O'Brien championship trophy, and of course, Kobe Bryant's initials.

It's a very impressive piece, we must say!
