A Starbucks customer left an unbelievably creepy note for a teenage barista, and the internet has a lot to say about it.
Here's the full story...
There are many frustrating things in life, but there's one thing that's pretty high up on the list...
And that's unwanted attention.
Things like wolf-whistling, for instance...Or catcalling.
Just stop. It's creepy, let's be honest.
But, you know what else is pretty creepy?
Getting weird, and unwarranted, might I add, messages from a customer.
Well, one teenager sadly knows this feeling all too well.
An exchange in a Starbucks in Spokane soon got pretty uncomfortable.
The young barista was serving a thirty-seven-year-old customer...
And, at first, nothing seemed too out of the ordinary.
But this is where it starts to get strange...
The man apparently enjoyed his customer service a little too much, and his next move has left people seriously grossed out.
So, what exactly was said?Well, buckle up...
Recalling his experience, the customer wrote:
"A barista said I was funny and that she liked me, so I politely thanked her, sat down to drink my hot chocolate. I wrote her a nice note, so as not to interrupt her work schedule, asking her out to dinner if she was interested, and walked out, happily thanking the friendly staff and wishing them a merry Christmas."
It didn't end there, though...
He then followed up with:
"When I returned yesterday, a Spokane police officer said the note was creepy -- which it wasn't!"
"They asked me to not return because I was being banned."
"We already know this is because the barista was young and legal aged, and I'm thirty-seven."
"I did not ask her to have (sexual relations) with me."
"I asked if she would like to have dinner sometime."
"Perfectly normal adult behavior."
"I figure, if she was sixteen and flirtatious, it would still be legal to ask her to dinner."
"You can't even work at Starbucks unless you're sixteen, which is the legal age to date people."
"This is a clear case of age discrimination."
"I know the female Starbucks barista was of legal age to date."
"I broke no laws."
"I merely took a chance with my heart."
"I'm tired of hearing the word 'creep' as any black person or gay person is tired of hearing certain words."
He's clearly ... Passionate.
"I have a whole web page dedicated to age gap love."
Starbucks has since spoken out on the incident.
"We have no tolerance for any such inappropriate behavior or harassment, and we will continue to support our store partners and local authorities investigating the situation," a spokesperson claimed.
Many customers have spoken up in support of their response, too.
"I have never been so proud to be a Starbucks customer," wrote one.
"As a teen, I had to deal with similar issues working in a restaurant as a hostess. It is an uncomfortable position no girl wants to be put in. Thank you so much for supporting your employees."
