Steve Harvey Announces Wrong Winner of Miss Universe Pageant for Second Time

It’s that time of year again. The 2019 Miss Universe pageant took place last night, with some of the most beautiful and talented women around the world gathering to see which country will be ranked number 1.

One of the most iconic moments of the show saw the host, Steve Harvey, reunite with the ghosts of his past when he accidentally announced the wrong winner during a crucial round in the pageant. His reaction, however, has the whole world in fits of laughter as he digs up one of the worst blunders in television history. Yes, that iconic and cringey moment when he announced the wrong winner of the entire pageant.

Keep scrolling for all the details including the hilariously awkward video.

Miss Universe 2019 took place in Atlanta, Georgia this year, with Steve Harvey as host yet again. I get it, he’s funny, sometimes… But after his magnificent blunder in 2015 left the whole world absolutely gobsmacked, you would think someone would have started casting for another host.

Even though he’s managed to get through the process for the last 3 years, who could ever forget that horrible day back in 2015?

And has now cemented itself as one of the greatest and most unfortunate moments in television history.

He announced the winner with so much confidence and then as the applause died out, the dread kicked in as he said: “Guys, I have to apologize…”

It felt like it lasted forever before he continued addressing everyone: “The first runner up is Colombia.”

The whole audience can be seen murmuring in confusion. Poor Miss Colombia, you can see her trying to swallow her pride and hand the all-important crown over to the real winner.

But hey, like a true queen, her smile didn’t falter.

You can just see Miss Colombia in the back getting a nice ol’ pep-talk from the other ladies, but nothing will make this any better, to be honest.

Those ghosts from 2015 are back to haunt the host.

The contest was running smoothly and Harvey’s jokes were generally met with a positive reaction.

I mean, if you’re making risky jokes, they have to be tasteful, right? You can’t make a racist or stereotypical joke and think you can get away with it… Even if you are Steve Harvey.

When he announced that Miss Colombiam Gabriela Tafur Náder, had made it into the top twenty, she made a light-hearted joke about his previous blunder, saying: “Are you sure? Should I go back?”

“Yes, look,” he said, spelling out Colombia. When Náder told Harvey that her country had forgiven his mistake, he said: “The cartel hasn’t forgiven me.”

This user thinks Steve Harvey is the “worst host ever.”

It was just taking things too far, to be honest.

But things got worse because he went onto announce the winner of the costume round incorrectly.

“Earlier this week, all the contestants competed in a National Costume contest. Here’s the look at the winner, Miss Philippines,” he said during this year’s contest in Atlanta. But Harvey said that Miss Philippines had won. According to the video, which you can see at the bottom, she grabbed the mic out of his hand and corrected him herself.

“Let me explain something to you. I just read that in the teleprompter. Ya’ll got to quit doing this to me. I can read,” he said.

He pointed at the teleprompter. “This is what they did to me back in 2015 – played me short like that.”

Thankfully the overall winner of the contest, Miss South Africa, Zozibini Tunzi, was announced correctly. However, it’s time to give up the gig. I vouch that we get Terry Crews to do the job or maybe even Jason Momoa? I’m up for that!
