Fleetwood Mac star, Christine McVie has tragically died aged seventy-nine…
And Stevie Nicks has shared a heartbreaking tribute to her “best friend.”

Fleetwood Mac came together in London way back in 1967…
Since then, the group has gone on to sell over a whopping 100 million records worldwide.
They are easily one of the most loved groups in music history…
And it’s not hard to see why.
Their haunting lyrics and incredible sound make them truly one of a kind.
Their best-known tracks include ‘Dreams’, ‘Everywhere’, and ‘Go Your Own Way’.
The group consisted of Mick Fleetwood, Lindsey Buckingham, Nicks…
And of course, Christine and John McVie.
What really put them in the top spot was their bestselling album, Rumours.
The album came out in 1977, but it is still as popular today, if not more than it was in the ’70s/’80s.
McVie was a singer-songwriter and keyboardist for the band.
She wrote numerous songs over the years both for Fleetwood Mac and during her solo career.
She was incredibly talented…
Writing the famous track ‘Songbird’, as well as ‘Don’t Stop’, ‘You Make Loving Fun’, ‘Oh Daddy’, and ‘Little Lies’.
Her first solo album came out in 1970, which was titled Christine Perfect, but it seems she wasn’t too fond of the album…
As she revealed in an interview this year with Uncut magazine: “There’s maybe a couple of good songs on it.”
Her second album, Christine McVie came fourteen years later…
This was followed by In The Meantime, which came out in 2004.
McVie, along with the other Fleetwood Mac band members, were all inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame back in 1998.
That same year, she left the band to focus on her solo career.
However, she made a one-off appearance with them in 2014…
She revealed to the Guardian at the time that it reignited her passion for performing: “It was amazing, like I’d never left. I climbed back on there again and there they were, the same old faces on stage.”
It’s clear she loved creating music right up until the end of her life.
As this June she released another album titled Songbird, featuring a collection of her best songs from previous years.
Sadly, McVie’s family announced in a statement that the singer had tragically passed away this week.
The devastating news comes just 2 years after the death of band member Peter Green, aged seventy-three.
And after hearing the news, Fleetwood Mac shared a joint tribute…
While Nick Fleetwood and Nicks posted their own personal heartbreaking messages.
The band posted on Twitter, writing that McVie was “truly one-of-a-kind, special and talented beyond measure”.
“There are no words to describe our sadness at the passing of Christine McVie. She was truly one-of-a-kind, special and talented beyond measure,” they wrote.
“She was the best musician anyone could have in their band and the best friend anyone could have in their life.
“We were so lucky to have a life with her. Individually and together, we cherished Christine deeply and are thankful for the amazing memories we have. She will be so very missed.”
Fleetwood wrote: “This is a day where my dear sweet Friend Christine McVie has taken to flight and left us earthbound folks to listen with bated breath to the sounds of that ‘song bird,’ reminding one and all that love is all around us to reach for and touch in this precious life that is gifted to us.
“Part of my heart has flown away today… I will miss everything about you Christine McVie.
“Memories abound… they fly to me. Mick Fleetwood.”
Nicks said she had only recently found out McVie was ill, but she sadly passed before she could visit.
“A few hours ago I was told that my best friend in the whole world since the first day of 1975, had passed away,” she wrote on Instagram.
“I didn’t even know she was ill… until late Saturday night. I wanted to be in London, I wanted to get to London – but we were told to wait.
“So, since Saturday, one song has been swirling around my head, over and over and over. I thought I might possibly get to sing it to her, and so I’m singing it to her now.
“I always knew I would need these words one day… It’s all I can do now.”
She shared lyrics to Haim’s song ‘Hallelujah’, adding: “See you on the other side my love. Don’t forget me. Always, Stevie.”
The news of McVie’s death was shared by her family on Wednesday.
They wrote: “It is with a heavy heart we are informing you of Christine’s death.
“She passed away peacefully at hospital this morning, Wednesday, November 30th 2022, following a short illness.
“She was in the company of her family. We kindly ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this extremely painful time…
“And we would like everyone to keep Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible human being…
“And revered musician who was loved universally.”
