Straight White Men Download Version of 'Endgame' With 'All the Feminism and Gay S**t' Edited Out | 22 Words

This year is all about Endgame and Game of Thrones, right?

In the opinion of Facebook, YouTube, Reddit and Twitter users, and blogs all over the globe, Avengers: Endgame and Game of Thrones dominate popular culture today. And newly announced nominations for MTV's Movie and TV Awards confirm those beliefs.

Are you a fan of the blockbuster Marvel Studios movie, Avengers: Endgame? Well, some white men aren’t as enthused by the movie, which is the first in the franchise to really focus on diversity.

White, straight men are apparently downloading a version of the popular film that has all of the empowering moments edited out.

The Avengers movie series was launched in 2008.

The 3 hugely successful movies were about white men with superpowers. It wasn’t until 2018 (Black Panther) and 2019 (Captain Marvel) that a bit of diversity infiltrated Marvel’s cinematic universe.

Avengers: Endgame is the first Marvel movie to feature an openly gay character.

He’s played by director Anthony Russo’s brother and co-director, Joe Russo. The film’s roster features thirty superheroes, but the male characters get 381 minutes of screen time in total, while the females get 116.

And did you know?

None of the twenty-two movies prior to Endgame have featured a main character who is LGBTQ+.

Avengers: Endgame has been coined the “swansong" of the straight white male superhero community.

It’s denoted the end of the “straight white male superhero bags the girl" method of storytelling, inspired by movements like #MeToo, Black Lives Matter and #OscarsSoWhite. It intensifies the voices of anyone who’s felt side-lined.

Perhaps the best thing about the Marvel cinematic universe is that it’s (at last!) beginning to fly the flag of diversity.

Other movies embracing diversity include Captain Marvel and Black Panther.

These releases are major genre movies representing people of this world.

It’s these types of kickass movies that show that white men aren’t the only ones that can be heroes.

In fact, Avengers' co-director, Joe Russo, accidentally revealed that…

Marvel is getting ready to announce a new gay character in one of its forthcoming movies!

Speaking to Deadline magazine…

Russo said that at least one of the existing characters in the Marvel cinematic universe (MCU) will be revealed as LGBT at some point.

So, yeah…

The future is looking bright and colorful for Marvel!

Joe Russo spoke in an interview with Deadline magazine.

Talking about the new Avengers movie, Russo said, “Representation is really important. “It was important to us as we did 4 of these films, we wanted a gay character somewhere in them. “We felt it was important that one of us play him, to ensure the integrity and show it is so important to the filmmakers that one of us is representing that. “It is a perfect time because one of the things that is compelling about the Marvel universe moving forward is its focus on diversity."

Avengers: Endgame hit the big screen just a few weeks ago.

And many folks are in love with it. But Marvel’s white, straight, male fans aren’t so enamored.

An anonymous tweeter was so enraged…

That they created a pirate version of the Avengers: Endgame! A screenshot circulated on social media featuring an illegal BitTorrent download page showing that a “straight white male edition" of Avengers: Endgame is being pirated.

They posted their own edited version of the latest Avengers movie to torrent websites.

Wow, they must’ve been pretty offended to do that, right?

Someone discovered this unbelievably insulting BitTorrent page.

According to the illegal BitTorrent download page that’s been screenshotted and posted to Twitter, the unnamed uploader wrote: “Endgame,’ but shorter, no feminism, no gay s***, less boring filler, less sniffing its own farts, no constant quips, and other small changes."

Most of the scenes in the edited version don't feature women (especially Brie Larson as Captain Marvel), or people of color.

Yep, they were so insulted that folks, other than straight, white men could be featured as heroes. So, they took out some of the diverse, much-loved characters that made Endgame the awesome movie that it is.

The user seems to be suggesting Marvel that was being smug to include women...

And one stupidly minor appearance by director Joe Russo wherein he happens to be gay. Seriously?

So, what was cut out in the pirate version of Avengers: Endgame?

via: Twitter

The screenshot posted on Twitter shows an entire list of changes they’ve made to the original film, like “absolutely no Brie Larson", “no women leader conference", and “no Hawkeye training his daughter." They also added that, “Young women should learn skills to become good wives and mothers and leave the fighting to men." Hmmmm. Do we sense a hint of sexism going on here?

But, Avengers fans took to the Twitterverse to express their annoyance about the pirate version.

One user commented, “So, wait, some moron edited all of the feminism, 'colored people', and 'gay shit' out of Endgame?! Imagine being that petty and fragile..." We're not gonna disagree.

Another posted:

“Honestly it sounds like it would be exhausting to live like this. Aren’t you tired, bros?" Well said.

All in all, tweeters were pretty disgusted.

“Just when I thought I couldn’t be more disgusted with straight white men (of which I am one btw) this appears. “This is appalling and is why the internet is just bad. #WhiteFragilityIsReal"

A few more reactions…

“Not to mention that this soon after theatrical release and based on the file size, it has to be a SH*** copy."

When a tweeter stumbled across the post about the illegal download, they found it “vomit-worthy."

They posted, “Possibly the most vomit-worthy thing I've read in years! The straight white men who download this are the absolute worst! #WhiteFragilityIsReal." And we have to agree.

We found this post particularly funny.

Someone else posted: “If you can edit all the women & the men of color out of the movie and the storyline remains intact, maybe that just proves that white dudes aren't lacking in representation in the Marvel Universe and they can stop being crybabies because Brie Larson exists." We love a good old Twitter-bate. Don’t you?

Social media users weren’t fans of the edited movie’s intro.

“Also, I love how they miss the point of the movie's intro missing all of the snapped characters. Which is the entire point." And we see what they mean.

Tweeters got quite creative with their comments.

Another tweeted: “Can we send them a Groupon for therapy? These men are not ok."

And the tweets went on...

“Can someone please tell me this “fan edit" of EndGame is parody of Alt Right shenanigans?"

People thought that the edits were utterly shocking.

“That someone actually took the time to literally whitewash a film is as fragile as it gets." You don’t say!

Did you know? A pirate version of Star Wars: The Last Jedi was created and shared on torrent sites.

Back in 2018, similar-style edits were created and shared on torrent sites for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The satirical edit cut out female characters and drastically altered the storyline. Luckily, Star Wars fans reacted in a similar way, posting unimpressed comments on social media.

Looks like the fragile straight white male community hasn’t won this time, though.

We think that the above tweeter has a point. Whoever made the pirate version of the film thinks they’re superior but, c’mon, it’s a bit trivial, isn’t it?

Thankfully, Marvel has a loyal line of fans.

We mean, who has the time to literally whitewash a whole movie? Luckily, fans haven’t condoned the troll attempt.
