Now, all things Stranger Things have been making headlines lately…
The 4th season has had everyone shook and the internet has become obsessed with each and every one of the cast members individually.
The newest season of the hit show has been exciting — to say the least.
In fact, even the show’s producer, Shawn Levy, announced that the new season was set to impress.
The team was even more “ambitious” with the script this time around…
“The Duffers and I want to share season 4 with the world as badly as the world wants it,” Levy told The Hollywood Reporter last year.
“Season 4 was built to be by far the most ambitious, cinematic, sprawling, and epic season that we’ve ever done.
“By not just a little — by a lot. So the complexity of Season 4, even before we had the obstacles, hurdles, and challenges of a pandemic, is taking a lot of time because it is super worth the wait.”
And worth the wait it was.
According to a leading tabloid, the final 2 episodes of the volume “feel more like a movie.”
Now, everybody knows Noah Schnapp’s character in Stranger Things as Will Byers…
If you don’t then where have you been?
After making various assumptions about Schnapp’s character…
Fans became eager to know more about the equation between Mike, played by Finn Wolfhard, and Will, especially as Mike was becoming “extremely friendly” with Will.
It’s probably just a phase we thought, but we were wrong.
The actor teased fans with an obvious sign when he gave an interview about it…
“Obviously, it was hinted at in season 1. It was always kind of there, but you never really knew, is it just him growing up slower than his friends?” he told Variety.
And further doubts were made clearer.
Schnapp appreciated the makers for scripting the season so well…
“They are writing this real character and this real journey and real struggle and they’re doing it so well,” he said.
He even made our assumptions clear when he added…
He’s “100% clear” that his characters sexuality is swinging to the right.
It all began when fans were convinced that Will’s sexuality was clear during “an emotional exchange in the back of Argyle’s (Eduardo Franco) pizza truck” back in season 4.
The scene which grabbed eyeballs the most was the one in which Mike opened up to Will about his fears that “Eleven might not love him anymore.”
And that she doesn’t “need” him anymore…
This plot twist made fans speculate even more than they should!
Talking about Will’s sexuality, Schnapp said “he was kind of figuring it out along with the audience.”
Is that why he was refraining from revealing any spoilers?
We think so.
But coming back, the thing that made fans go crazy was Will’s next move in the latest season…
In an attempt to console his friend, Will tells him “Eleven has struggled to be apart from Mike while living in California.”
But it’s obvious she’s not the only one missing Mike.
And the speculations continued after that about Will and Mike’s sexuality…
And, now the speculations have been put to rest — finally!
As Schnapp confessed his character is gay…
“Now that he’s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it’s 100 percent clear that he is gay and he does love Mike. But before, it was a slow arc. I think it is done so beautifully because it’s so easy to make a character just like all of a sudden be gay,” Schnapp revealed.
But it seems the confession didn’t go down too well with fans…
As one Twitter user wrote: “The moment when girl tried to flirt with Will I immediately had gay panic vibes Will Byers is gay. He has to accept it.”
While another user revealed that hints were given to fans.
“They’ve been dropping hints since season 1 he was gay. Tf they mean it’s up to interpretation?” they wrote.
Well, someone had to come in and support Schnapp and it was none other than…
Brett Gelman.
Who gave a mouthful to trolls.
Gelman, who plays Murray Bauman in the series, lent out a hand to his co-star Schnapp…
Making it very clear he’s all for the match.
“I am for Byler if Byler is for Byler,’ he said.
If that doesn’t make you wanna ship Byer and Mike, what are you thinking?
And he didn’t stop there, as also spoke about himself too…
Gelman said it’s “pathetic” how homophobes call him gay and it’s not at all offensive…
“It’s pretty pathetic that all you little homophobes think calling me gay is an insult. It’s a compliment. So thank you,” he said.
“I ship love in whatever form it takes baby.
“And y’all who don’t. Maybe you’re scared to look at something. I Stan the LGBTQ+ community,” he added.
Gelman also mentioned how Mike and Eleven’s “potential love for each other” could lead to an extraordinary story…
“Let me be clear that I also ship Eleven and Mike. If that’s what’s meant to be. Regardless I hope Will finds love as well as love for himself and who he really is. No-one should feel ashamed for who they are and who they love,” he confessed.
But the tweet that’s getting the most attention is…
The one where Gelman declared he’s all for Will and Mike…
“If it’s a match then it should be so. I’m not for Byler if Mike isn’t for it because then Will gets hurt.
“And I also don’t want El to have a broken heart. But if Byler is what is meant to be then I ship Byler BIG TIME!!!” he concluded.
Do you ship Will and Mike?
