Police have named a suspect in the murder of Olympic medalist Agnes Tirop after she was found dead in her home…

Twenty-five-year-old Tirop was found dead in her home on Wednesday…

And now it seems the police have uncovered a suspect in her murder.

The star athlete, who remarkably placed 4th in Tokyo’s 5000M this year, was found dead by police in her home in Kenya…

Police are currently investigating the scene, but according to officials, her death appears to be a homicide.

Kenya president, Uhuru Kenyatta, spoke out about Tirop’s untimely death on Wednesday…

As per twnews, he said: “It is even more painful that Agnes, a Kenyan hero by all measures, painfully lost her young life through a criminal act perpetrated by selfish and cowardly people.”

Concluding his statement on Tirop’s death he said…

“I urge our law enforcement agencies led by the National Police Service to track down and apprehend the criminals responsible for the killing of Agnes so that they can face the full force of the law.”

Chairman, Barnaba Korir, of Athletics Kenya, which Tirop was a member, confirmend the tragic news of her death online…

He wrote: “Athletics Kenya is this afternoon distraught to learn about the untimely death of World 10,000M bronze medalist Agnes Tirop.”

Korir went on to share Tirop’s incredible achievements over the years, and just how much enthusiasm she had for the spot…

“Kenya has lost a jewel who was one of the fastest-rising athletics giants on the international stage, thanks to her eye-catching performances on the track. Just last month, she broke the women-only record in the women’s 10km at Road to Records Race in Germany, timing 30:01.

“Last week, she finished an impressive second, timing 30:20 at the Valencia Half Marathon.”

But that’s not all, it turns out Tirop had a “decorated CV…”

Winning a “World Cross Country” title in 2015, during which she made history as the 2nd youngest medalist at that level.

“She also won the Africa Cross Country Championship in 2014 in Kampala, Uganda as well as the World Junior Cross Country Championship in 2013 in Bydgoszcz, Poland.”

A well as honoring her many accolades, Korir also shared the disturbing details of how she was found…

As it turns out, Tirop’s body was discovered with several stab wounds to her neck and abdomen.

Police arrived on the scene the morning after Tirop’s father reported her missing…

According to twnews, Tom Makori, head of police, said: “When [police] got in the house, they found Tirop on the bed and there was a pool of blood on the floor.”

Makori continued, giving more details on the condition her body was found in…

“They saw she had been stabbed in the neck, which led us to believe it was a knife wound, and we believe that is what caused her death.”

According to Makori, Tirop’s husband “is still at large.”

Leading them to believe he “is a suspect because he cannot be found.”

According to him,”Police are trying to find her husband so he can explain what happened to Tirop.”

But no more information has been given about the circumstances surrounding her death.
