Some men are uncomfortable with their partners making more money than them…but how about a cat with more money?
Taylor Swift has been one of the richest musicians in the world for quite some time now.
According to Forbes, the singer-songwriter became a billionaire in 2023.
As of October 2023, Taylor Swift’s net worth is an estimated $1.1 billion.
The money mag also pointed out that how Swift accumulated her billion-dollar fortune is what distinguishes her from other wealthy artists.
Most of the wealthiest artists in the game make a majority of their money on side-hustles, like Rihanna and her extremely lucrative Fenty Beauty brand.
Swift’s billionaire status, on the other hand, was achieved largely by music.
That puts her in a unique category with artists like Bruce Springsteen, who earned $1 billion from “on the road touring,” according to Forbes.
More than $500 million of Swift’s fortune is from music royalties and touring.
The singer made an estimated $190 million from the first leg of the Eras tour, plus another $35 million from the first two weeks of screenings of her concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.
Another $500 million of her earnings came from the increasing value of her music catalog.
Still, Swift isn’t the only one in her family to boast a high net worth.
Olivia Benson, Taylor’s cat she adopted in 2014, has been named one of the world’s richest cats.
The furry feline has an estimated net worth of $97 million.
According to a Forbes-style list of the world’s wealthiest pets compiled by the website AllAboutCats.com last week, the cat “earned her fortune starring alongside her owner in several music videos.”
Named after Mariska Hargitay’s Law & Order: SVU character, Benson has also “crafted her own merchandise line, and has had cameos in many big-budget ads, including for the likes of Diet Coke and Ned Sneakers,” the website stated.
While it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Swift’s pet is a big money maker, it does point out a funny reality: her cat has more money than her boyfriend.
Taylor Swift is currently dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
While his net worth is certainly nothing to scoff at at an estimated $40 million, that’s less than half of what Taylor’s cat is worth.
Several Swifties took to TikTok following the news of Olivia Benson’s net worth reveal, comparing her fortune to that of Swift’s man.
“If Travis is lucky, he’ll be as successful as TS’s cats one day,” one fan joked.
In addition to the money he earns in the NFL, the two-time Super Bowl champion’s net worth is aided by lucrative endorsement deals with companies like McDonald’s, Papa John’s, Nike and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Of course, he also makes a considerable chunk of change from his salary, currently in the third year of a four-year $57.25 million deal he signed with the Chiefs.
His agreement included $22.75 million in guaranteed money, in addition to an annual salary of $14,312,500.
Despite the fact that that’s more money than most of us will ever see in our lives, Kelce has been outspoken about the fact he is “underpaid.”
“My managers and agents love to tell me how underpaid I am,” he told Vanity Fair in January 2023.
“Any time I talk about wanting more money, they’re just like, ‘Why don’t you go to the Chiefs and ask them?’” Kelce continued.
He went on, “When I saw [former Chiefs receiver] Tyreek Hill go [to the Miami Dolphins] and get $30 [million] a year, in the back of my head, I was like, ‘Man, that’s two to three times what I’m making right now.’”
Maybe, now that Kelce has seen how much his girlfriend’s cat is worth, he will do some more negotiating with the Chiefs to bring in more money.
Taylor, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to mind the gap, and looks to be happier than ever in her new relationship.
