Taylor Swift’s longtime feud with Kim Kardashian has been reignited once again
Earlier this month, in her Time Person of the Year interview. Taylor Swift breathed some life back to her 14-year feud with Kanye West.
Even though the rapper has been divorced from Kim Kardashian for years now, his ex-wife was also brought back into the mix.
Back in 2016, Kanye released his track “Famous,” which included vulgar lyrics about Swift.
After some backlash over the song, Kardashian quickly backed her then-husband up, claiming the singer had approved the lyrics about her.
When Taylor denied Kardashian’s allegations, the reality star released footage of a conversation between the musicians.
In the phone call, Swift seemingly gave Ye her blessing to rap the lyric, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex.”
Just a few hours before she released the footage, Kim threw some serious shade at the “Karma” singer.
“Wait it’s legit National Snake Day?!?!?They have holidays for everybody, I mean everything these days!” She tweeted at the time, followed by a string of snake emojis.
Shortly thereafter, the emojis made their way all over Taylor’s social media accounts.
Years later, in 2020, the full phone call was shared online, which revealed that Swift had never approved the specific lyric she took issue with: “I made that b**** famous.”
With this line, Kanye was referencing their infamous run-in at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
At the time, the rapper rushed the stage to interrupt Swift’s acceptance speech and declare her award should have gone to Beyoncé‘s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” instead.
After the phone-call footage was released, Swift insisted that her continued involvement in the controversy with KimYe was against her will.
“Being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song is character assassination,” she said at the time.
I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative, one that I have never asked to be a part of, since 2009,” Swift continued in a now-deleted Instagram post.
In 2017, Swift released her album Reputation, in which she touched on her multiple conflicts with Kanye.
The entire album goes back and forth between throwing shots at the rapper and laughing the whole conflict off, sprinkling snake emojis throughout.
Now, the feud has come back to life following a recent interview from Taylor—her first magazine interview in years.
“Make no mistake—my career was taken away from me,” Swift said in her interview.
She went on to call Kim and Kanye’s efforts against her a “fully manufactured frame job.”
“[It was] an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar,” Taylor explained.
“That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before,” she continued. “I moved to a foreign country.”
The singer went on to say, “I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard.”
“I thought that moment of backlash was going to define me negatively for the rest of my life,” she added.
After the interview was published, Swifties rushed to Kardashian’s social media pages for some payback.
Fans took to Kim’s comments section to leave a trail of snake emojis, reminding the reality star of exactly what her fans did all those years ago.
Kardashian has yet to respond to her rivalry with Swift being brought back up.
While this seems like a rivalry that will never die, according to reports from TMZ, Taylor would forgive Kardashian “under one specific condition.”
That one condition? A public apology.
But, according to the outlet, Kim still has yet to reach out to Swift, even after the Time interview and the backlash that followed.
