A teacher has been killed following a shootout with a Mexican drug cartel group…

After he was involved in the dangerous drug world.

Here’s everything we know…

Now, teachers hold a huge amount of responsibility.

After all, they are responsible for the education and livelihoods of their classroom which, ultimately, will help shape kids into well-rounded adults.

It’s important that teachers are law-abiding and respectful people.

Especially as children see them as a solid influence in their young lives.

But while most teachers are…

Some teachers have a different side to their life, that no one knows about.

Like Barney Harris.

A Spanish teacher and varsity basketball coach, who was fatally shot while trying to steal from the house of a Mexican drug cartel member.

It’s safe to say…

People are shocked by this story.

Barney Harris, a teacher at the charter school Union Academy was killed last week following a shootout with members of a Mexican drug cartel.

Harris and his brother-in-law Steven Alexander Stewart had been watching the movement of the Sinaloa New Generation Cartel in the hope of finding the location of their stash houses.

The pair discovered that one was located at a mobile home park on Wyatt Road, North Carolina.

And so, as per WSOC-TV, they went there in the early hours of April 8 to steal money and drugs from the stash house.

Once inside the house, the 2 men were confronted by a member of the cartel, Alonso Beltran Lara, eighteen.

Deputies for Alamance County said the men questioned Lara about the stash but when he didn’t give them any answers, they shot him in the head.

Lara was found with his feet bound and his arms tied behind his back.

“And they were trying to find the money and drugs and apparently he didn’t give them the information to do that and he was technically close range, two bullets to the back of the head, he was executed,” said Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson.

After Lara was killed it is believed that more cartel members arrived.

An exchange of gunfire followed and that’s when Harris is thought to have been killed.

“The trailers that were shot up, it looked like an old Western shootout, that’s what it looked like,” Johnson said.

Harris’ body was found by authorities inside a bedroom with several gunshot wounds.

Stewart survived the gunfire but was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree murder, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Authorities found a large amount of c*caine in a bag near Lara’s body.

Following the announcement of Harris’ death, the Union Academy posted a tribute on Facebook.

Which was heavily criticized by many.

The since-deleted post read: “The UA community is mourning the unexpected loss of teacher and coach Barney Harris.”

“UA students, staff, and families are asked to wear UA Spirit Wear on Monday, April 12, to celebrate the life of Coach Barney Harris, whose motto, ‘All Love…No Fear,’ will be forever a part of who we are as a school.”

Harris’ name has now been removed from the school website.
