Ted Cruz has faced serious backlash after he was spotted jetting off to sunny Cancun; he's even been called on to resign. But he seems to be backtracking as he's now been caught heading back to Texas.
Here's the full story...
Now, Ted Cruz is never far from controversy...
But his latest actions might be his worst yet...
And he's left Texans appalled...
Cruz has sparked fury more than ever after he was seen fleeing to Mexico to escape snow-stricken Texas as residents of the state continue to struggle.
Because right now, a winter storm is wreaking havoc in numerous southern U.S states...
And Texas is perhaps the worst affected.
According to The Guardian, professionals have noted that the heating of the arctic may be to blame for these crazy changes in the weather.
Especially for the snowstorms that have been brutally hitting the people of Texas.
They explained the situation:
"[Experts claim] there is evidence that the rapid heating of the Arctic can help push frigid air from the north pole much further south, possibly to the US-Mexico border."
Due to the state being unprepared for such unusual weather, people have been forced to evacuate their homes...
And the addition of heavy snowstorms and below-freezing temperatures has left the state completely powerless in most areas.
And not only that, but twenty-three deaths have been reported so far...
Brutal cold hung over Texas and the central United States on Tuesday, bringing chaos to parts of the U.S. not used to severe winter weather.— The New York Times (@nytimes) February 17, 2021
At least 23 people died across four states, from icy roads and other weather-related incidents.https://t.co/o8gGy927p2 pic.twitter.com/YlB1XYtPDT
And as temperatures continue to fall, this number is set to rise.
Texans are doing their best to push through this difficult period...
We are deploying plainclothes officers in unmarked vehicles across the city looking for anyone burglarizing residences or businesses during power outages. This is a natural disaster and penalty enhancements can lead to 20 year prison sentences. If you need help there are services— Chief Art Acevedo (@ArtAcevedo) February 17, 2021
But with little to no options, some have been forced to make do with what they've got.
People have been taking to social media to share their bizarre new living situations during the unbearable temperatures...
This is how cold it is at my Apartment.— 𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐒 𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐊 ☩ (@ThomasBlackGG) February 16, 2021
As a Texan, yes, I'm certainly not built for this. I don't even care. pic.twitter.com/FMt8imglJp
Including this Twitter user whose fan had literally frozen to the ceiling and had icicles dangling down from it.
This is something that hasn't been experienced for decades...
It’s so cold in my Texas town that this container of snow has been sitting in my garage for 2 days and has not melted 😬 pic.twitter.com/60lFBcQXTH— LoLo (@kacchanluvsdeku) February 17, 2021
And so many people and families are seriously struggling without any form of power, electricity, and hot running water.
President Biden declared a state of emergency in Texas last week...

And ordered federal assistance from the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency to supplement local response efforts.
Who knows how long this nightmare will last...
Well, things have just gotten even worse... and it's all thanks to the Senator for Texas, Ted Cruz.
Instead of staying in the state and working hard to help his people...
It has been reported that he decided to pack up his bags and flee to sun-soaked Cancun in Mexico... which, of course, hasn't sat well with residents who are living in below-freezing conditions.
It isn't JUST that Ted Cruz left TX during a disaster—though that is bad enough. It's also that he went on vacation to MX during a pandemic. He defended Trump's remarks about Mexicans being drug dealers & rapists. Funny how MX is the first place he escapes to when shit gets hard.— Tina Vasquez (@TheTinaVasquez) February 18, 2021
“As people froze to death in your state, how was fucking off to Cancun after helping incite an insurrection in support of a man who said your father killed a president and who called your wife ugly? Do you need a refill on that coffee, P.S. I’m going to refill it with hot piss.”— Chuck Wendig (@ChuckWendig) February 18, 2021
Ted Cruz is a seditionist who is leaving his constituents to freeze while he goes sunbathing in Cancun.— Trish Zornio (@trish_zornio) February 18, 2021
Got that, Texans? #ExpelTedCruz
Ted Cruz fucking off to Cancun to be a sweaty beach goblin while the people he swore to protect are freezing to death is some top tier coward shit.— Brian Altano (@agentbizzle) February 18, 2021
Funny how quickly phrases like “stand your ground!” and “these colors don’t run!” collapse with these garbage leaders. Despicable.
Over two dozen Texans have died due to the storm - from hypothermia or fire or carbon monoxide poisoning; 2 million others are without power and struggling to stay warm. Meanwhile, Sen. Ted Cruz went to Cancun.— Shannon Watts (@shannonrwatts) February 18, 2021
And that’s not even the worst thing he’s done in the last month...
I will call out any mother fucker who is defending Ted Cruz right now, yeah I am that angry.— David Weissman (@davidmweissman) February 18, 2021
Holy shit Ted Cruz is in Cancun while folks in Texas are freezing to death. This is how the rich and powerful will approach climate change, denying it and running from the deadly fallout.— Joshua Potash (@JoshuaPotash) February 18, 2021
I’m honestly blown away by the shamelessness and idiocy of Ted Cruz. Did he just think he could slip out of the country unnoticed in the middle of a deadly natural disaster in his state?— Ahmed Baba (@AhmedBaba_) February 18, 2021

It was reported yesterday that Cruz was spotted in a Houston airport with his family queuing for a United Airlines flight.
It is strongly believed by the person who took the pictures that the Senator boarded a flight that departed at 4.44 pm and landed in Cancun at 7.52 pm.
And, as a consequence, the Texas Democratic Party is calling on Cruz to resign...
"Ted Cruz jetting off to Mexico while Texans remain dying in the cold isn't surprising but it is deeply disturbing and disappointing," Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa said. "Cruz is emblematic of what the Texas Republican Party and its leaders have become: weak, corrupt, inept, and self-serving politicians who don't give a damn about the people they were elected to represent. They were elected by the people but have no interest or intent of doing their jobs."
American Bridge also called for Cruz's resignation...

Looks like @tedcruz is on his way back, @danpfeiffer. He’s just narrowly missing the upgrade list
That’s assuming that “cru, r” is him. And I do. pic.twitter.com/CqfKa5rJfG
"Senator Cruz should do his constituents a favor and stay on the beach instead of getting paid by taxpayers to do a job he clearly has no interest in doing," the group's president, Bradley Beychok, said.
But Cruz seems to be backtracking...
He's been spotted dragging his luggage to a flight back to Houston amid the outrage.
