Terry Crews hasn't been having a good few days... at all.

His controversial tweets about "black supremacy" in the wake of George Floyd's death didn't sit well with fans, and now, he has responded to the backlash but that hasn't exactly paid off either...

Terry Crews has ruffled some feathers recently...

And it's all over a controversial tweet about black supremacy in the wake of the BLM movement. But firstly, let's start from the beginning...

Crews is one of the most iconic faces in Hollywood...

The fifty-one-year-old has a very full resume that stretches back for decades.

As a young man in the 1980s, he started out as an American football player...

He was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the 11th round of the 1991 NFL Draft. This career included stints with the Rams, the San Diego Chargers, the Washington Redskins, and the Philadelphia Eagles.

When he retired from the NFL in 1997...

Crews moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career after having a long-standing ambition to work in the film industry.

He made several appearances in commercials and music videos...

And despite having never taken acting classes, Crews' breakout role came in Friday After Next (2002) starring rapper-turned-actor Ice Cube, for whom Crews had previously worked as on-set security.

Over the years, Crews has starred in mainly comedic roles...

His hilarious role in White Chicks (2004) rocketed him to fame and he soon became recognized as the muscley comedian that he is known and loved for today.

Alongside his acting career...

Crews is also an avid sketch artist and he advocates tirelessly for women's rights activism.

Crews has also been married since 1989...

Rebecca King-Crews has been by his side for decades now, and it's safe to say that they make one of Hollywood's best couples. They share 5 children together and one grandchild.

And when Rebecca recently announced that she had beaten breast cancer...

Fans were left overjoyed for the couple.

So it's safe to say it has been a pretty great few years for the actor...

Up until now, that is.

The actor posted a tweet yesterday that didn't sit well with fans...

And it was in regards to the Black Lives Matter movement that has taken over the world in the last few weeks.

The death of George Floyd in Minneapolis on the 25th of May sparked global outrage.

George tragically passed away when he was pinned down by 4 police officers - one of which knelt on his neck for over 8 minutes - for a supposed forgery incident.

The police officers involved mercilessly allowed him to die under their control...

And even though the police officers involved have now been arrested, the entire world has been left feeling heartbroken and furious over the way in which black people are treated by not only the police force... but also by the rest of society.

George's death sparked the much-needed Black Lives Matter movement...

And millions of people have been staging protests all around the world to demand justice for the black community.

Even though the majority of these protests have been peaceful...

Many have been overtaken by rioters and have quickly turned violent.

The world hasn't felt this much strain in decades...

And it's safe to say that there's now a huge divide in opinion on the internet.

This is when we come back to Crews...

The actor has been forced to defend himself after he made comments about "black supremacy" following the riots and protests.

It all started with this tweet...

"Defeating White supremacy without White people creates Black supremacy. Equality is the truth. Like it or not, we are all in this together," the actor wrote.

Tyler James Williams, who starred with Crews in Everybody Hates Chris, was one of the first to condemn the actor’s tweet.

Crews replied saying he understands that black supremacy doesn't exist, but "if both Black and Whites don’t continue to work together - bad attitudes and resentments can create a dangerous self-righteousness."

Many other famous faces began challenging Crews' ideology...

And the actor was quick to reply to many in a desperate attempt to defend his words.

Fans weren't impressed with his words...

And many felt that the actor was encouraging the concept of inequality - which isn't at all what the Black Lives Matter movement is about.

Fans would have preferred Crews to not say anything at all...

Which probably would have been the wiser move.

The actor's opinion wasn't appreciated...

And it's clear that Crews was more than aware of this.

Crews then accused people of twisting his words...

Which isn't exactly the case when the evidence is laid out in front of us in black and white on our Twitter feeds.

But it seems that the backlash eventually got too much for Crews to handle...

And last night, the actor decided to address the outrage.

He took a different approach...

"I believe it is important we not suffer from groupthink, and we keep minds of our own, and be allowed to ask difficult questions to each other. I believe this dialogue is important as we get through this trauma together. I love you," he wrote.

He then tweeted this...

"Please know that everything I've said comes from a spirit of love and reconciliation, for the Black community first, then the world as a whole, in hopes to see a better future for Black people."

The actor stressed that he wants to put the black community first...

And many fans thanked him for speaking his truth.

But of course...

There are still people out there who wish for Crew's silence during these turbulent times.

We're not sure what this means for Crews' future...

But we think that some silence will do the actor a lot of good.
