A 6-year-old girl has been left without a dad.

George's daughter, Gianna, is having to face the harshest impact of this tragedy...

And now, a college in Texas has extended a helping hand. But first, let's start from the beginning...

Last week, footage of George Floyd's arrest started to circulate on social media.

After being arrested and forced onto the ground, former police officer, Derek Chauvin, proceeded to kneel on his neck, while 3 other officers knelt on his back.

In the highly distressing scenes, he could be heard begging with the officers to release him.

"Please, please... I can't breathe."

After nearly ten minutes, George was completely unresponsive.

An ambulance arrived and took the unconscious man to hospital but, devastatingly, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. He was only forty-six years old.

This kind of police brutality has been happening for centuries now...

Gianna Washington, 6, is George's only child.

Last week, Gianna spoke out about her dad...

Gianna attended a press conference in Minneapolis alongside her mother, Roxie Washington.

Through tears, Roxie explained that she wants justice for George.

"At the end of the day, they get to go home and be with their families. Gianna does not have a father."

She continued her emotional statement:

Washington was joined by former NBA player Stephen Jackson, who reportedly became friends with George Floyd after meeting him in Texas.

Jackson responded to Washington's powerful words, saying:

"There's a lot of stuff you said that he's gonna miss — that I'm gonna be there for. I'm gonna walk her down the aisle. "I'm gonna be there for her. I'm gonna be here to wipe your tears. I'm gonna be here for you and Gigi."

He continued:

"Floyd might not be here, but I'm here for her, I'm here to get justice, and we're gonna get justice for my brother."

And, later that day...

George's daughter, Gianna, was filmed sitting on Jackson's shoulders saying "my daddy changed the world."

It was a heartbreaking sight.

And the clip quickly amassed reactions from heartbroken viewers.

"When You Remember #GeorgeFloyd Make Sure You Remember This Beautiful Soul That He Left Behind."

"This broke me. The positivity she still has after going through this. You are sunshine to the world, baby girl."

Ever since the video went viral, little Gianna has experienced an outpour of love and generosity...

And she even met Joe Biden, who said, "You're so brave. Daddy's looking down he's so proud of you. I know you miss that bear hug, riding on his shoulders so you could touch the sky."

And, in a more recent interview, Gianna opened up about wanting to become a doctor one day.

"I know what I want to be when I grow up... I want to be a doctor. I want to take care of people."

Well, that dream may just come true.

Because today, a college in Texas has revealed that they will provide Gianna with a full-ride scholarship when she's old enough to attend.

Now, this isn't the first funding offer put forward for Gianna.

According to TMZ, rapper Kanye West has already set up a college fund for the little girl.

The 529 college savings fund will fully cover all tuition for Gianna when she is ready to go to college one day.

But now, Texas Southern University has matched his offer.

They announced the news on their Twitter page.

"Texas Southern University Board of Regents announce scholarship fund for George Floyd’s daughter, Gianna. The Board, in conjunction with the TSU Foundation Board, has approved a fund to provide a full scholarship for Floyd’s beloved daughter, Gianna."

The school said that this is their way of "honoring the memory of George Floyd on the day that he is laid to eternal rest."

TSU will "prepare a place" for Gianna "if she wishes to attend the University," they also said.

What an incredible gesture.
