The 2019 EMA Awards took place last night live from Seville, Spain. Big names strutted their stuff on the red carpet before taking their seats to enjoy a show filled with star-studded performances by the likes of Halsey and Liam Gallagher.
However, what really got people talking were the outfits on display. Surprisingly, most celebrities went for tamer-than-usual outfits this year, but they were all nonetheless, stunning. Here are some of the best looks from the award show last night.
25. Juan Betancourt.
via: Getty ImagesI had to cut off the bottom half on this picture because as beautiful as Juan's crushed velvet jacket is, the shoes he chose to pair it with are unforgivable.
For those who want to see the entire outfit...
via: Getty ImagesHere you go. I bet you're wishing you hadn't.
24. Jorge Lopez Astorga.
via: Getty ImagesWe can't mention Juan without Jorge, can we? I don't know what he thought with those slits in the jeans, but we appreciate the double denim look. And a bit of flesh.
24. Travis Mills.
via: Getty ImagesHere's another celeb who doesn't know how to pick the right shoes for an outfit. That top, amazing. The hair, gorgeous.
But the bottom part...
via: Getty ImagesI'm having trouble figuring out how snake print sneakers fit into this mix. But Travis still made the list for the awesome top.
23. Terry Crews.
via: Getty ImagesTerry really blew the audience away with his zebra-print ensemble. Right the way down to his shoes, this legend was brimming with that extra bit of pizzazz that other celebrities on the red carpet lacked.
via: Getty ImagesI know what you're thinking... Akon looks totally 2009, right? White jeans? Yikes. But here's the trick, it's Akon. He makes it work.
21. Joan Smalls.
via: Getty ImagesJoan Smalls could wear a black trash bag and could still make it look amazing. What a woman!
via: Getty ImagesNow, this is what I like to call the definition of "simple but effective."
19. Ava Max.
via: Getty ImagesThese mega-block tie-up shoes were the perfect addition to this outfit and for that reason and that reason alone, Ava Max crawled into the top twenty. Nice choice!
18. Xavier Serrano.
via: Getty ImagesNow here's a man who knows how to pair a risky blazer color perfectly. Those shoes, despite being risky themselves, work perfectly to dull down the foil-looking reflection of the blazer. Extra points for going commando under it too!
17. Nicole Scherzinger.
via: Getty ImagesThe Queen of always looking good. Nicole's classic matchup of a body-con and a glossy heel has definitely won me over. We might have seen it a lot, but no one does it like the Scherz!
16. The Struts.
via: Getty Images4 different guys. 4 different looks. 4 times the happiness.
15. Jeetendr Sehdev.
via: Getty ImagesOh, come on! Make it easier for other men to breathe, Jeetendr. This suit screams just screams royalty. We love it!
14. Green Day.
via: Getty ImagesThat cheetah print shirt is actually giving me so much life. I didn't really take Green Day to be the fashionable type, but they probably only made it this far on my list because the "emo-punk" look is making a comeback. And I'm all for it!
13. Leomie Anderson.
via: Getty ImagesWhere do we even start with this beauty?
This look is bringing me down to my knees!
via: Getty ImagesIs she a butterfly? Is she an illusion? No one knows but we do appreciate this look.
via: Getty ImagesSpanish native, Rosalia, single-handedly brought back oversized blazers with shoulder pads.
Move out of the way, Hilary Devey...
via: Getty ImagesWe have a new padded Queen in town!
11. Pabllo Vittar.
via: Getty ImagesAnd if you thought those shoulders were wide, have a look at these! Pabllo took this outfit to a whole new level! Extra brownie points for the amazing poses during the shoot!
10. Niall Horan.
via: Getty ImagesKicking off the top 10 is none other than ex-One Direction member, Niall Horan.
If anyone knows how to rock a double-breasted blazer, it is this man.
via: Getty ImagesExtra brownie points for a flash of that ankle there. The singer kept it casual during his performance with a white leather jacket. We do love a bit of Niall, we do.
9. Cristiano Ronaldo (feat. Georgina Rodriguez).
via: Getty ImagesIt's the matching white shoes that this couple is rocking that really adds that extra little bit to an already risky colored outfit. With both of them rocking the brightest versions of their respective colors, things could have easily gone downhill. But it didn't. I'd say this is a pretty big win.
8. Johnny Orlando.
via: Getty ImagesCome through, Johnny! That simple outfit with the addition of the Gucci chained collar really makes this whole thing work. That's precisely the reason why I just had to give Johnny Orlando the number 8 spot on this list.
7. Dua Lipa.
via: Getty ImagesWith 4 outfit changes throughout the night, Dua Lipa was one of the top contenders when it came to stealing the show.
It's all about the little details with this outfit...
via: Getty ImagesThat lipstick color totally compliments her. And those earrings. Wow. The fluffy brows, I'm not so crazy on, but everything else, it's a big yes from me.
6. NCT 127.
via: Getty ImagesBringing back the classic bow-tie, this K-Pop supergroup knew exactly how to rock the timeless look. Sometimes, you've just gotta keep it simple, guys!
5. Dua Lipa (again!)
via: Getty ImagesThis electric blue ensemble takes my breath away. A double mention on the list for Dua!
4. Becky G.
via: Getty ImagesThe host of the EMAs, Becky G, had numerous outfit changes throughout the day, but this one was one of the best.
3. Lola Indigo.
via: Getty ImagesHow do I describe how much I adore this outfit? It's such a risky layering but Lola has rocked it with the crimped up hair.
via: Getty ImagesHalsey had some questionable choices for her red-carpet looks but during her performance, she really thrived in this white, mesh two-piece.
1. Jasmine Sokko.
via: Getty ImagesThe Queen of the EMAs 2019 has arrived. There's no chance in hell that anyone outdressed this modern take on a traditional satin number that Jasmine Sokko wore. She truly deserves the crown.
