'The Handmaid's Tale' Season 5 Has Been Confirmed | 22 Words

The Handmaid's Tale has been confirmed for season 5, and we simply can't wait to see what's on the cards!

Here's what we know...

Now, The Handmaid’s Tale is a television show about the dangers of uber-patriarchal societies.

Originally stemming as a novel, Margaret Atwood was the woman behind the powerful fictional tale in 1985, and it immediately entered the literary canon as a seminal work of speculative feminist fiction.

As soon as it hit our screens, it was an instant hit...

And it looks like we've got more to look forward to!

Granted, Season 4 of The Handmaid's Tale hasn't even arrived on our screens yet...

But we're already very excited over the news that Season 5 has been confirmed.

Hulu loves the show so much, they already confirmed the next season!

Now, that's saying something!

Last year, filming on Season 4 was delayed due to the pandemic...

But we've now been told to "hold onto our seats," as this season is going to be packed full of drama.

In a special announcement from Handmaid stars, the cast said they were "thrilled" with the news...

Elisabeth Moss, who plays the star of the show June Osborne, even said it was her "privilege and honor" to continue the role.

So, who will be starring in season 5?

Their latest announcement might just give us a hint into who we can expect to see in the upcoming seasons.

The announcement reads: "The cast has a special message for you. Season 4 returns in 2021..."

"Oh and praise be, we’ve also been renewed for Season 5!" it continued. And of course, fans were beyond excited by the news...

Many huge faces appeared in the short clip...

Including Max Minghella, Samira Wiley, Ann Dowd, Bradley Whitford, Madeline Brewer, Yvonne Strahovski, O. T. Fagbenle, Amanda Brugel and Sam Jaeger... So we're hoping they all make it to Season 5!

But one thing's for certain...

Showrunner Bruce Miller previously told Vanity Fair: "This story only exists as long as June was alive to live it and write it down. So I think that June is our guide. When June dies, our guide dies, and our show dies." So, it looks like Elisabeth Moss isn't going anywhere any time soon!

But when it comes to S5 plot predictions, we're going to have to wait a little longer...

The trailer for the next season was released ironically, in June, which takes us back to when June helped a large group of children and Marthas escape to Canada.

It gives us a glimpse into that night and why June didn't board the plane...

And it also hints strongly that another escape plot is coming up for June and the other handmaids.

Even though the first season of The Handmaid's Tale closely followed the storylines of Margaret Atwood’s novel...

All following seasons have been created by the show’s directors, so it's difficult to tell where the story could go. I guess we'll just have to wait to find out! For more Netflix news, read on...
