Linda Evangelista is one of the most gorgeous women in the world.
This is no exaggeration—she was declared to be one of the “50 Most Beautiful People in the World” by People Magazine in 1990.
She’s always been a beauty.
Linda started modeling after enrolling in modeling school at 12 years old.
A beauty pageant changed her fate.
At 16 years old, she participated in the Miss Teen Niagara beauty pageant. She wasn’t crowned a winner, but was scouted by Elite Model Management, which is one of the most renowned modeling agencies.
She became a world-famous supermodel by the time she turned 19.
Linda graced over 700 magazine covers, including Vogue, Glamour, Elle, Allure, and Cosmopolitan.
A fashion muse
In 1985, she began working alongside iconic designer Karl Lagerfeld, who was then the head designer of Chanel, and became one of his muses. She was also a muse of famed Vogue photographer Steven Meisel.
Linda has charmed many romantic suitors over the years.
Her first marriage wasn’t to a celebrity.
In 1987, she married Gérald Marie, who was the head of Elite’s Paris office.
The marriage wasn’t a happy one.
In Sept. 2023, she shared on Apple TV+ docuseries The Super Models that Gérald was abusive towards her. “He knew not to touch my face, not to touch the money maker, ya know? I married him when I was 22 and I got out when I was 27, and he let me out as long as he got everything. But I was safe and I got my freedom,” Linda said.
Her first post-divorce relationship was with a handsome actor.
Following her split from Gérald in 1992, she began dating Kyle MacLachlan after meeting him at a photoshoot for Barneys. They got engaged in 1995 but broke up in 1997.
Why she and the Twin Peaks star didn’t work out:
In a 2000 interview with The Guardian, Kyle explained, “It was just… sealing the deal, with the marriage. I was quite happy just being with her. I wasn’t necessarily resistant to marriage but it seemed like I was, and maybe I was, but I just liked things the way we were. Obviously she wanted more. So. She called it a day.”
Linda moved on with a soccer player.
In 1998, she started dating French athlete Fabien Barthez. Their relationship was on-and-off, until ultimately breaking up for good in 2002.
In 2006, Linda became pregnant with her son, Augustin James.
She initially didn’t name the baby’s father, but later revealed that she shares Augustin with billionaire businessman François-Henri Pinault. The two only dated for four months, and François-Henri moved on to marry Salma Hayek.
She then found romance with another wealthy businessman.
Months after her breakup from Augustin’s father, Linda began dating Peter Morton, the founder of Hard Rock Café, while she was pregnant. They broke up in 2013.
Linda hasn’t been in a high-profile relationship since Peter Morton.
The last time Linda sought romance.
In a new Sunday Times profile, she shared that the last time she dated was before receiving CoolSculpting treatment in 2016, which left her body disfigured after having seven sessions that were meant to freeze the fat from her jawline, thighs, stomach, and back.
The surprising, true reason why Linda Evangelista is still single.
In the interview, Linda noted that she’s a germaphobe and has self-diagnosed OCD, which means she can’t stand certain habits—making her very picky when it comes to romance.
Her hilarious quote about dating:
When asked if she’d be open to dating again, Linda remarked, “Not interested. I don’t want to sleep with anybody any more. I don’t want to hear somebody breathing.”
Her remarks about dating went viral on social media.
From Reddit to Twitter, many could relate to her humorously harsh words.
Another reason why Linda likely hasn’t had much of a love life recently is due to her social habits.
“I have social anxiety when I go to places or parties and I’m really scared. I anticipate failure before everything and think something bad’s going to happen. I’m like, waiting for doomsday to happen. But then after two minutes I forget about it,” she admitted during the chat with Sunday Times.
Linda’s life has changed a lot in the past decade.
Her cancer diagnosis
After the CoolSculpting procedures went awry, she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018. To treat it, she underwent a double mastectomy.
She’s currently focused on being the best mom to her son Augie.
“I went back to therapy. And now I’m the funnest mom there is. If I do anything well, it’s that, being a mom. I think my child is great, and if he’s great, then I’m a great mom,” she said in the new interview.
Augie doesn’t share his mom’s love for fashion; instead, he has another passion.
She mentioned that he loves sports, so she often takes him to see football, hockey, and basketball games.
Linda will soon be an empty nester, as Augie’s in his final year of high school.
She already has plans on what to do when her son moves out.
“Well, I don’t want to stay in New York. I want to hike and be healthy, and work. I want to be a nanny to my grandchildren. And I want to move to the desert where my lungs won’t hurt,” she said.
It’s been a busy year for Linda.
Her first-ever book
She released her first book, which was made in collaboration with Steven Meisel. It’s aptly titled Linda Evangelista Photographed by Steven Meisel.
The book celebrates Linda’s legacy and longtime friendship with the photographer.
It features three decades worth of photographs of Linda by Steven, including some of her most famous snaps.
