Jas Waters was the writer of the beloved series This Is Us.

The comedy-drama centers on 3 siblings - Kevin, Kate, and Randall - as they grapple with the ups and downs of their lives.

Waters has writing credits for at least eighteen episodes of the hit drama.

But this was far from her only venture in the industry.

She also made the cross over to the big screen...

The acclaimed TV writer also worked on flicks including HardballSave The Last Dance, and What Men Want.

Before her TV career, however...

Jas had her own column in VIBE magazine back in 2012.

She's had an impressive career.

But devastatingly, last week, there was some tragic news.

The star passed away at just thirty-nine years old.

The news of her death was confirmed on the evening of June 10th.

Her death was announced by the This Is Us writing’s team Twitter account.

"She was a brilliant storyteller and a force of nature. We send our deepest sympathies to her loved ones. She was one of us. RIP."

Shortly after the news was announced, This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman posted a tribute to the late star.

"This news took my breath away," he wrote. "Jas was absolutely brilliant and had so many stories still to tell. She made an indelible mark on our show and my heart breaks for her loved ones."

Cast members of the show also took to Twitter to offer their condolences.

The likes of Mandy Moore, Chrissy Metz, and Susan Kelechi Watson paid tribute.

The news of her sudden death shocked fans and fellow stars.

People are utterly heartbroken.

She had a huge impact on many...

"Your words. Your imagination. Lord, you got a good one here! REST IN POWER QUEEN!"

"She helped me when she barely knew me."

One person revealed a touching piece of advice Jas had given them back in 2016.

The news of her death is devastating.

Jas was described as "amazingly sweet and beyond skilled."

"So crushed to hear of this."

Glee star Amber Riley joined in on the tributes on social media.

"I can’t believe I woke up to hearing you are gone @JasFly."

She clearly inspired many people...

And many began taking to Twitter to recall encounters they had with her.

Jas's final tweet quickly surfaced.

And it was utterly heartbreaking.

After seeing it, fans expressed their shock.

Many reminded the late star how much she was loved.

"I am so sad we lost you. So sad that a light like yours isn’t there anymore. But you helped and touched SO many. You were amazing. Thank you for everything you did. Your memory is a blessing. You were a blessing. I’m sorry. So sorry. Thank you for all you did while you were here."

In fact, several of her recent social media posts had concerned fans.

One look at her social media makes it very clear she was struggling.

Jas' cause of death has now been confirmed.

It has been confirmed that the acclaimed writer took her own life.

Jas had been struggling with her mental health during lockdown.

And had been battling depression for twenty years, having been diagnosed at nineteen, according to reports.

Her father, Joseph Waters, spoke to DailyMail about his daughter's difficulty with social isolation of the last couple of months:

But that he was "sure that wasn't the reason she took her life." "Long before she was Jas Fly or any kind of Hollywood writer she was my little girl," he said. "My daughter was a brilliant, articulate, beautiful young woman who didn't deserve this at all."
