From Spiderman, the Black Panther to the Scarlet Witch — there’s a character for everyone to connect with.

Over the past few years, we have seen releases of the likes of Black WidowSpider-Man: No Way Home, and Eternals.

Fans have also seen the Moon Knight, WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier television series released on Disney+.

But, most recently, fans saw the release of Thor: Love and Thunder.

And the response hasn’t been all that good…

In fact, people are slamming pretty much every scene of the movie.

Most are calling out director Taika Waititi for his “try-hard” script, which some have described as incorporating “pubescent humor.”

Not to mention the poor visuals…

One outraged fan wrote: “THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER is one of the messiest and most ill-conceived movies I’ve seen in years. It’s a cosmic circus of try-hard cringe that bizarrely tries to connect heavy themes about death, god, and love to nonstop pubescent humor and series-low visuals. I wished I liked this.”

That’s not all…

Another commented: “THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER is a reminder that no amount of money can compensate for poor planning or low effort, both in crafting a compelling story and depicting cinematic spectacle. Two hours of antiseptic images support a ramshackle ‘script’ that stumbles to a baffling conclusion.”

And it seems there’s one particular part of the movie fans are furious about…

And that’s Jane Foster’s storyline.

In the movie, Thor, Valkyrie, Korg, and Jane come together to fight Gorr the God Butcher, whose sole purpose is to kill all gods.

Natalie Portman’s return as Jane was a surprise for Thor, who hadn’t seen his ex-girlfriend for years after they split.

When her return was announced, many fans wondered if Watiti would incorporate her cancer diagnosis, told in the comics, into the film.

In the comics, she has breast cancer and her ability to fight the cancer gets more difficult after she wields Mjölnir and turns into the Mighty Thor.

Each time she transforms, her chemotherapy would become useless, preventing any chance of recovering.

And fans are shocked at how insensitively the topic was approached by Watiti.

One viewer wrote on Twitter: “I think the most disgusting thing about #ThorLoveAndThunder is the way they handled Jane Foster’s cancer. Specifically the chemo scene.

“It’s a delicate thing to deal with, especially in a superhero movie for kids, but holy damn if you can’t do it with respect don’t do it at all.”

A second echoed: “Jane foster is wasted potential, her cancer storyline in the comics has payoff it means something, the movie plays it as a side storyline it’s absolutely annoying.

“The movie could’ve been longer and paid more attention to her story. I hate how horribly the movie handles her.”

Another wrote: “I’m so p*ssed about the way they handled Jane’s cancer.”

As Jane undergoes chemotherapy to treat her Stage 4 cancer, Thor realizes she needs to stop using the hammer if she wants to make any kind of recovery.

However, despite his plea, Jane is determined to use her remaining strength to help Thor defeat Gorr.

Sadly, putting too much of a strain on her body.

At the end of the movie, we see her succumb to her illness.

And although most fans have been outraged by the storyline, some have shared they think it was an important part of the movie.

One Twitter user wrote

“Jane Foster’s storyline had insane emotional resonance for me. Both my mother & a close friend battled cancer a couple years ago.

“Thor’s desire to protect Jane & Jane’s struggle to keep fighting really hit home. I think we all needed to hear a story like this.”

While another wrote: “As someone who has had stage 4 cancer, I loved the Jane Foster arch in the comics.

“It felt real. Seeing it in a shortened form on the big screen felt good too. I don’t care if you liked the film, it was a fun journey with many pros and cons. To me though, it felt good.”
